It is the duty of the parent to give their children pure Islāmic education. This brings me onto the second question I was asked, which only required a short and straight to the point answer. I was asked many of the youth of today, listen to lectures of many different people on social media whose mentalities we do not know. Why don’t teachers teach students regarding these matters? The answer is simple, all that was mentioned previously, regarding parents working with their teachers to ensure that their child receives the best possible Islāmic education. Secondly after madrasah the child returns home, out of 24 hours he only spends 1 hour 30 minutes with the teacher. The majority of the remaining time is at home. So what the child does outside the madrasah is the responsibility of the parents. The teachers have, do and always will try their atmost best to educate your child to maintain those teachings is the responsibility of the parent. EMAIL: [email protected] 8 VOLUME. 3 ISSUE. 1 JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2017 Introduction to ‘One Minute Madrasah’ By Mawlānā Adam Loonat (Founder of Al-Hidayah Foundation) During our life we go through many different situations. Life is just like a roller coaster with “ups & downs” and good times and bad. Sometimes it’s financial problems, sometimes it’s problems with our family members and sometimes it can be problems in school with preparation for exams. As humans we are always looking for an easy way out, a quick exit. Not realising whether the exit door which we have just used is permissible or not, is it a door which Allāh S has allowed us to open or not. Will Allāh S be happy with us using this method to escape the difficulty we are facing? Allāh S is Al-‘Alīm (All Knowing), Al-Basīr (All Seeing ) - He knows everything, He knows what is best for us. Then why do we go through difficulties in life? Sometimes Allāh S puts us through difficulties to test us or to see whether we obey His commands and become closer to Him than before or disobey His commands and go further away from Him. A parent may at times test their children to see whether they listen to what they are saying or go against what they are saying. A mother will tell her child, “You cannot go out to play today.” If the child disobeys her order and goes outside to play without the mother knowing, the mother will become upset and angry. But if her child fully obeys the mother and does not go out to play then the mother will be extremely happy and the trustworthi- ness will increase in the mother’s heart for her child. The Prophet s also went through numerous situations during his blessed life. Attacks from his people in Mak- kah, including his own family members. What did the Prophet s do in such situations? At the time of the battle of Badr the Prophet s spent the whole night in du‘ā. Supplicating to Allāh S for assistance and victory in the battle. Out of the many different ways we can use the most effective way out of any dilemma or difficult situation is du‘ā - especially the masnūn du‘ās . The beautiful masnūn du‘ās have a very open and broad meaning as well and contain immense blessings. These are the words of our beloved Prophet s. Insha’allāh, in every issue we will be starting a ‘one minute madrasah’ which will include a masnūn du‘ā and a few Sunan of our beloved Prophet s related to that specific masnūn du‘ā. We request all readers to:  Read what has been written  Understand and learn if possible  Practice. Either a Dhākir or a Ghāfil. A dhākir is that person who is aware at all times that Allāh ta‘ālā is watching him and it is only He who controls the universe and holds authority to cause benefit or harm. A gh āfil is that per- son who does not have such a condition. Consequently, a dhākir will be an obedient servant of Allāh ta‘ālā and a ghāfil will be disobedient. If a person entertains the desire that people be- come aware of his devotion and closeness to Allāh ta‘ālā then he is not a dhākir, rather a ghāfil as this is riyā and riyā is disobedience and a disobedient person cannot be a dhākir. Therefore, in essence this person is ghāfil. Shaykh Mawlānā Muhammad Saleem Dhorat hafizahullāh Courtesy of WWW.AT-TAZKIYAH.COM 9 VOLUME. 3 ISSUE. 1 JANUARY/FEBRUARY 2017 One Minute Madrasah by Mawlānā Adam Loonat (Founder of Al-Hidayah Foundation) When Awakening from Sleep. It has been reported from Hadhrat Huzayfah t that the noble Prophet s would recite the following du‘ā when he arose from sleep رُوحشُ ُّنلا هّيحَلّإوَ اَن َتامََأ امَ دَعح َب نََاَيحح َأ يح ذَّّلا لِلّٰهّ دُمحَلْح َا All praise is to Allāh S Who brought us back to life after He caused us to die and unto Him is resurrection. When a person awakes in the morning it is as if he/she has been given a life again. (During sleep a person is unaware of what is happening around them, which is similar to when a person leaves this world forever). Sleep has been given the similarity to death. When awakening in the morning what should the first thing a person should do to get the day to good start? We should praise and thank Allāh S for this great blessing of life and this day. Sunan of Awakening. When awakening one should rub both the palms on the eyes and face.  Upon awakening use the miswāk to brush the teeth  When we awake in the morning it can be difficult at times to get in to our normal daily chores straight away. It can take 10 minutes to 30 minutes to fully understand what is happening around us. All of us admire that the start to our day should be good. If the start is good the rest of the day will be good. What better way to start our day than to start it with the name of our Creator; that same Being Who has blessed us with every- thing we see around us. And to start the day with the blessed Sunnah or Beloved Nabi s. Majority of us will be doing the above two actions. All we need to do is to do it with the intention of it being Sunnah. We all rub our eyes when waking up. We all brush our teeth when going to the bathroom. Keep our miswāk next to our toothbrush and use the miswāk first. There are above 70 benefits of using a miswak (insha’allāh we shall men- tion these in the forthcoming issues). The greatest benefit is that Allāh S will bless us to recite the kalimah during our last moments of our life. 10
