P30 4 The Reality Of FSA By Abu Sa'eed Al-Britani (From the video, "Message Of A Mujahid") Introduction Many of those who speak about FSA (and the jihad in general) are those who are either not here in Sham, or those who are in the depths of the ignorance of the reality. However, due to them having the advantage of mass media, their futile views are given weight, and these ignorant people are given a platform to propagate their false speech. Numerous times I have heard people label FSA as 'Mujaahideen'. Likewise I have heard many people claim we are Khawarij due to our defensive fight with FSA (which later on was forced to turn into an offensive fight due to them not stopping their aggression against us). These two claims are so widespread that I saw it necessary upon me to clarify these two issues. This small book is split into two main parts, the main portion of this book addresses the reality of FSA and in the appendix I critically analyse the claim of us being from the Khawarij. Part one focusses on two main aspects; in section one I will discuss their beliefs and in section two I will discuss their traits and characteristics, thereby giving a wider image of the reality of FSA. Islamicly speaking it is forbidden to speak about that which we have no knowledge of, so I write this short treatise in hope that it can enlighten those who are not here in Sham about FSA and why we are at war with them. 5 SECTION 1: Their 'Aqeedah Who Is A Mujaahid? Islamicly speaking, a Mujahid is the one who fights for the sake of Allaah to raise high His Word, i.e. the Shari'ah. So if someone is fighting for Democracy or anything else, then such a person is not a Mujaahid. In his book, "Fi Dhilaal Al-Quraan", Sayyid Qutb mentions that Jihad comprises of two aspects, the first is to remove Ceaser, and the second is to replace it with the Shari'ah. If one of these is missing then the individual is not labelled as a Mujaahid, as he is missing one of the two core principles. For example, if a person prays salah without wudhoo', or without reciting the Fatihah, or with the intention to show off, then his salah is invalid even if his outward action of Salah may seem perfect to the onlooker. So if a person fights the tyrant with the ambition of replacing it with democracy or any other man-made law, then such a person is not a Mujaahid (even if he is fighting the most evil Kaafir alive), and if he dies upon this notion, then he is not a Shaheed, as he did not die to raise the Word of Allaah the highest, as per the hadith in Bukhari and Muslim where he (saw) said, "Whoever fights so that the Word of Allaah can be the highest (i.e, so that the Shari'ah can be the governing system) - he is the one who is (fighting) fi sabee lillaah." So who you are fighting does not necessarily determine whether you are a Mujahid or not, but why you are fighting does. Are FSA Mujaahideen? With this concept understood, we ask the question regarding FSA; are they fighting for the return of the Shari'ah? Unlike what many Muslims assume, FSA are not fighting for the return of the Shariah nor do they judge by what Allaah has revealed. They are the furthest away from the Deen of Allaah (swt) and dislike the concept of ruling by the Word of Allaah, and I do not say except what the truthful brothers (who have fought alongside them and spoken to them) have witnessed. Likewise it is well known that they are receiving aid from America and are fighting for a democratic state, where they give the sole right of Allaah to the people. Where they will allow mankind to judge themselves according to how they please. Where they will let the masses choose their laws, unless they choose the Shari'ah, in which case FSA would kill them (as numerous accounts show). 6 They say they would let the people judge themselves as they wish, but if a person wants to be judged by the Shari'ah, they dislike it. This just shows that even the core principle of democracy which they claim to follow, they would brush away if there was any sign of Islam in the scene. Once an Amir of a FSA battalion tried to show that he was good for society, so when one of his men stole something from another man, he shot the thief in the knee. This, apparently is ok for him to do, yet to cut off his hand is barbaric?! The 'aqeedah of FSA differs from the 'aqeedah Allaah has prescribed for us. Indeed, Allaah revealed the Laws for us to act upon and to implement in society. FSA on the other hand fight to raise the word of democracy high. An act which renders their jihad and sacrifice fruitless, and disqualifies them from being labeled as Mujaahideen. So glad tiding of the fire of hell for he who dies while trying to establish the ways of Jaahiliyyah. Glad tiding of the fire of hell for he who fights to give mankind the right to legislate and 'abrogate' the Law of Allaah(!). Glad tiding of the fire of hell for he who fights to uphold a concept of Kufr. Doubts And Refutations For a true believer who has understanding of the Deen of Allaah and an understanding of his 'aqeedah, the above is sufficient evidence to prove that FSA are misguided. However, some may still have some doubts, and from among the most common doubts I have heard are the following three: Doubt 1: We do not know what is their hearts. Some may claim that we do not know what is in their hearts so we cannot label them except as Mujaahideen. In reply to this doubt, then yes we do not know what is a person's heart, and it for this very reason that we judge him based upon his outward actions. 'Umar Ibn Al-Khattaab mentioned that during the time of the Messenger (saw), revelation was still descending, so they knew who the hypocrites were, however after the death of the Prophet (saw) no one knew what was in another person's heart so they are to judge based on the apparent. Furthermore, in the Battle of Badr the Mushrikeen forced some Muslims (who were still in Makkah) to fight alongside them, and regarding these Muslims the Prophet (saw) said that we fight them based upon their apparent, and what is in their hearts is between them and Allaah. Therefore, we judge FSA based upon the apparent, and as mentioned above they have clearly stated they want a democratic state, they have clearly stated they receive aid from 7 America, and their actions have clearly shown they fight anyone who wishes to implement the Shari'ah. Can such a person be labeled as a Mujaahid? Really? Is Allaah well pleased with those who strive and struggle to build a democratic state? Doubt 2: There may be some among them who are good people. I do not argue that there may be some people in FSA who appear to be 'good'. However by them allying themselves with FSA, they are now like them. If there were men among FSA who were pious individuals, then they would have disassociating themselves from them and came to our ranks (as countless Syrians did – in fact so many members have left FSA and the only remaining members now are the thugs of society – as shall be explained in section two). There is no good in a person who stays with a group who are fighting for democracy, and to label such an individual as good is similar to labeling as good a person who prays salah but believes the Prophet (saw) is All-Hearing and All-Seeing. Furthermore, if there were good people in FSA they should have an open disavowal (Al- Baraa) of the crimes committed by FSA, and since no one from their ranks has done this, they are all the same. The silent devil is as bad as the devil himself. Nay they are amongst the first to be punished by Allaah when His punishment descends down upon mankind (as numerous ahaadeeth indicate). Doubt 3: FSA Are Still Sunni Muslims. To say someone is from Ahlu Sunnah can mean one of two things; (1) that he believes the first four rightly guided caliphs had legitimate authority and were deserving of their positions which they held. This term is usually used by Scholars to differentiate between a Sunni and a Shi'ah, and in this terminology even the Sufis, Ash'aris, etc. fall in, as they also believe in the validity of the four rightly guided Caliphs. (2) The second meaning of the term Ahlu Sunnah is a more specific one which refers to those who follow the Quraan and Sunnah as understood by the Salaf As-Saaliheen. FSA on the other hand are people who do not know anything about their religion. Nay if one was to ask an average FSA member to name the four rightly guided Caliphs he would not be able to do so. They are people who do not pray, nor do they know anything from the pillars of Islam, nor from its nullifiers. In fact they are fighting for a democratic state, which is a concept of Kufr. So before one starts a debate about them being Sunnis, the basic question of them being Muslims needs to be discussed. There is a scholarly discussion about whether a person who does not pray is still a Muslim or not, so the question of them being Sunnis is a fruitless discussion. 8 Conclusion To conclude this section, I say that there is no good in FSA, nor can we water down the ruling upon FSA due to the assumption that there may be some good individuals among them (which by the way the majority of local civilians here in Sham deny – see section two). FSA is a group is individuals with a corrupt 'aqeedah, nay its more correct to say that they have no 'aqeedah whatsoever. They are like animals wondering around without any purpose. In fact, even the animals are better than FSA, as the animals glorify and praise Allaah. They deserve to be fought by all those who believe that the Word of Allaah must be raised the highest. If you believe in the return of the Shari'ah then FSA would see you as an enemy due to your 'aqeedah, so take the enemies of Allaah as your enemies, if indeed you love Allaah and His Messenger! How can one say he loves the Shari'ah yet not fight against those whose outward actions clearly show they dislike the Shari'ah? 9 SECTION 2: Their Traits & Characteristics Now that their 'aqeedah is known, it's also important to get a glimpse at their traits and characteristics which they are known for, as there are many people who have a good 'aqeedah but bad traits and characteristics, likewise there are many people who have an incorrect 'aqeedah but may possess good traits and characteristics. I will now present incidents and narrations which will prove that FSA do not only have an incorrect 'aqeedah but also have the worst of traits and characteristics, thus qualifying them as the worst of the worst to walk upon the face of the earth. Everything I will mention is what I have witnessed myself or what I have been informed by firsthand sources, from both the Mujaahideen and the local civilians here in Sham. Their Cowardice Approach In Battles Before The Sahawaat: Everyone who has fought FSA has testified to their cowardice. Here in Sham, many groups have specific traits which they are known for. PKK for example are known to be good snipers, Bashar's soldiers are known to be weak men who just have a lot of ammunition which they fire all day long, Dawlah are known to be like a tornado with its brave fighters and martyrdom operations storming into enemy territory. FSA on the other hand are known to be cowards who know nothing about fighting. On numerous occasions when they were assigned a position (e.g. left wing, center, right wing, backup etc.) they used to either not show up, fight like cowards or retreat in the first instance. In his article titled, "The Days Of Sahawaat", Abu Sa'd Al-Sudani says, "They were never on front lines and always lingered in the back, making excuses not to fight. And when they were pressured to come to front lines, they disappeared as soon as they appeared." Many battles failed due to them not holding their positions, and many times brothers got surrounded because FSA had retreated without telling anyone. This caused much annoyance to the brothers who would keep their calm and would not say harsh words to them due to them being in the same rank as them. Many battles were lost and many plans were not accomplished because of them. Many brothers could sense the tension, and knew that one day a fight would break out between the two camps. 10
