Breeding Principles ~Nature does not tolerate extremes, therefore trait leaders are not sustainable. ~Good cattle come in different sizes, but all of the good ones have the same pattern. ~We sell 30 bulls annually by private treaty. ~Females for sale privately and at the G.A.P.S. R. # 1 705-445-1526 Nottawa, ON [email protected] LOM 1PO CONSTITUTION & BY-LAWS OBJECTIVES • to advance the breeding, raising, showing and marketing of Aberdeen Angus cattle in the Province of Ontario. • to better organize and advance the interests of their breeders and owners. • to promote Angus cattle through the sponsorship of educational meetings, feild days, exhibitions, advertising, consignment sales and any other endeavour which , in the opinion of the board of directors, is in the best interests of the Association, its members and the breed. • to cooperate with the Canadian Angus Association in the developmnet of the breed of Angus cattle and to cooperate with the regional and district associations within the province. MEMBERSHIP Any non-resident owner of an Ontario Angus herd interested in the breeding and promo- tion of Angus cattle may become an active member by the payment of annual dues and the discharge of such obligations as may be duly prescribed. The membership dues and payable on the first day of December in each calendar year which is applicable to the following year. There are four memberships: Honourary Member: The board of directors may from time to time confer Honourary Membership on persons or firms considered to have been of outstanding service to the Angus breed in Ontario. Honourary Members may not hold office in the Association nor be entitled to vote. Regular Memeber Those individuals, partnerships or incorporated companies resident in Ontario, who pay the prescribed annual membership fee. Non-Resident Member: Those individuals, partnerships or incorporated companies residing outside Ontario who pay the prescribed annual membership fee. Junior Member Those individuals under the age of twnety one (21) years of age who pay the prescribed annual member fee. The membership fee paid as a Junior member shall cover regular membership for the period until January 1st of the year following the member’s twenty first birthday. The members of the Association from each regional club shall elect two directors to the association Board of Directors. One of these Directors will serve a one year term, the other a two year term. MEETINGS An annual meeting of the members shall be held each year on a date set by the board of directors and at such place as the directors shall determine. Notice of the date and place shall be sent at the membership not less than twenty-one days in advance of the Annual Meeting. Twenty (20) members personally present at a meeting of members shall constitute a quorum. At the annual meeting, the members present shall elect Directors, receive the financial statements and auditor’s report and appoint an auditor within 60 days of the end of each calendar year. There are currently five regions that serve on the Board of Directors. They are: BLUEWATER: (Encompassing Grey, Bruce, Huron, Perth, Simcoe, Dufferin, Algoma, Manitoulin, Sudbury, Temiskaming Counties And Nipissing District) CENTRAL: (encompassing Halton, Peel, Wellington, Waterloo, Brant, Haldimand, Wentworth, Welland and Lincoln Counties) EASTERN: (encompassing York, Ontario, Muskoka, Peterborough, Victoria, Haliburton, Durham, Northumberland, Hastings and Prince Edward Counties) OTTAWA VALLEY: (encompassing Renfrew, Lennox & Addington, Frontenac, Leeds & Greenville, Lanark, Carleton, Stormont, Dundas & Glengarry E Prescott & Russel Counties) No Director shall serve on the board of Directors for more than six consecutive years, unless he/she is elected to the Board of the Canadian Angus Association or is Immediate Past President of this Association. THE MISSION OF THE ONTARIO ANGUS ASSOCIATION The Ontario Angus Association is a non-profit organization formed to promote Angus cattle in Ontario by: • Coordinating activities between the local clubs and the Canadian Angus Association. • Sponsoring educational programs and province-wide activites. • Encouraging the breeding of quality Angus seedstock to profitably meet the demands of the beef industry. 10
