Sharon Camarillo), March Respect—Find Out What It Means to Me (Chip Knost), Kathy Kadesh Fran Devereux Smith Here’s How Latigo Tuck THIS IS an easy way to fold up your cinch latigo to make the next cinching go smoothly. i/ Allow the cinch to slide down to the end of the latigo to prevent the cinch ring from banging the horse’s off foreleg and pick up the latigo about halfway. Then bring the latigo up to the saddle’s dee. (See figure 1.) 2/ Run the fold of the latigo through the saddle’s dee—from the backside out. Pull and adjust the lati- go so that the loops on each side of the ring are fairly even. Leave enough of the latigo hanging to make a cinch knot to hold the loops in place when carrying and storing the saddle. (See figures 2-4.) 3/ When you next cinch up, untie the cinch knot, but do not pull out the latigo until you place the tip of the latigo through the cinch ring. (See figure 5.) 4/ Once the end of the latigo is through the cinch ring, pull the latigo to make the strap unravel from the saddle dee. The latigo strap will smoothly unrav- el, and you are ready to cinch up for your ride. (See figure 6.) —Pat McKnight LaCrosse, Wisconsin 4 192 DECEMBER 1994 ¢ WESTERN HORSEMAN
