When you consider our history and position, the oldest continuously-functioning school in the Western Hemisphere, you realize what an important document it is so...hold on to it. For those of us who feature annually within its pages, I suppose it acts as a clear testament to the passing of time. In addition to the greying hairs, however, it has made me reflect on what has happened during the nine years I’ve been in the school. The buildings and facilities have changed a great deal, there has been a lot of staff turnover, including he retirement of loyal servants and there have been significant changes to the curriculum, including the introduction of the International Baccalaureate. Expectancies are high and the staff, both teaching and administrative, have shown extraordinary commitment and dedication. As a result, last year for me marked the consolidation of ‘my’ kind of school. By and large we seem to have a happy school with students and staff working co-operatively towards the common goal of the best possible education for these youngsters. Is that the pitue this book portrays ? I’ve never personally wanted a school in which people were miserable or in which the kids are ‘kept under’ by fear. It’s hard to grow in such an environment. j§gjP : I J| M - :W ,, , mg It’s not perfect of course and there’s much to do but...there are further exciting plans. Hopefully these will unfold in the near future but meanwhile I commend this Yearbook to you and congratulate Cheri Hunter in particular who has taken the lead in putting together, along with the talented youngsters who assisted. Enjoy it. Bob Lennox. 2 Just Passing Through The Yearbook committee would like to thank the staff, students and supporters who helped make this 2005-2006 yearbook possible.
