Following the conference, CCR published and dis- seminated a policy brief and report. I would like to thank all those who contributed to the conference. In working toward publishing this book, I have benefited from the support of a number of individuals. First, I would like to thank Adekeye Adebajo, former Executive Director of CCR, for his energetic commit- ment to bringing the book to fruition. The current Executive Director, Tony Karbo, has been equally invaluable in finalization of the book. Kudrat Virk and Liliane Limenyande at CCR have also been criti- cal in providing indispensable administrative support. Second, I wish to acknowledge the seven authors who contributed to this book; they have been patient and generous with their time as we have gone through various drafts of their chapters. In the same vein, I wish to thank Jason Cook for his stellar efforts in copyediting of this manuscript. Third, I would like to thank the main funders of the March 2016 seminar and vii viii ACKNOWLEDGEMENTS CCR’s Africa Programme—the governments of Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, and Finland. Finally, I would like to thank Anca Pusca, Anne Schult, and their colleagues at Palgrave Macmillan for their sup- port in the publication of this book. March 2017 Gilbert M.
