Blanchette will be up for re-election to his second three-year term. Duo Caught Mattapoisett Police Apprehend Car Thieves Two suspects were apprehended by Mattapoisett Police Offi cers after breaking into motor vehicles early Mattapoisett Monday morning, January 12. Ryan R. Stojak, 17, of 65 Shaw Road in Fairhaven and Joshua Rock, 19, of 76 Glennon Street in New Bedford Chiropractic were arrested after a foot pursuit by police. Mattapoisett Police Offi cers Robert Randall, Lenira Lima and Sergeant Anthony Days responded to a 911 call on North Street. A female caller reported seeing two men breaking into her motor vehicle that was parked in her driveway. Offi cer Randall was the fi rst offi cer to arrive and Jeffrey G. Swift, D.C., D.A.B.C.N. observed a male inside the car. Both males fl ed and of- fi cers pursued them on foot. They requested a K-9 and were assisted by the Massachusetts State Police. Ryan Stojak was apprehended in the woods be- hind 175 North Street. A short time later, Joshua Rock was found lying behind bushes in the area of Northwoods. Both were arrested and transported to the Mattapoisett Police Department for booking. They are charged with breaking and entering in the nighttime with intent to com- mit a felony, larceny of $250, resisting arrest and disturb- ing the peace. Recovered at the scene were several credit cards, an iPod, an MP3 player, digital camera and gift cards. The suspects broke into several vehicles on West Hill, Mattapoisett Neck Road, River Road, Crystal Spring Road, and North Street. Both suspects were held without bail. They were arraigned Monday at Wareham District Court. In addition to the Massachusetts State Police, Mattapoisett Police were assisted by Rochester Police Ser- geant Kierney and Offi cer Kevin Flynn and Marion Police Offi cers Kevin Paulson and Chris Smith. In light of this event, Mattapoisett Police Chief Mary Lyons advised residents to remember to lock their cars, even on their own property.
