From One Small Farm to One Big Dream Walters Gardens Begins To tell the story of Walters Gardens you really must tell the story of the land on which it is built. The 5 acre farm was originally owned by John and Dena Knoll. They had a daughter, Harriet, and grew a variety of fruits, vegetables, and perennials. In 1936, John passed away leaving Dena and Harriet to continue on with the farm. A partnership with Weller Nursery increased the need for help around the farm so the Knolls hired a young man named Dennis Walters to apprentice. He knew little of perennials and had no convenient Founded on Faith way of getting to work.
