DHARMA VISUAL THE BUDDHIST ART OF TIBET ChogyamTrungpa, Rinpoche The symbol on the cover is the seed syllables of the Kalacakra heruka in monogram form. It pre- sents the essence ofthe teaching ofthe Kalacakra tantra. The syllables contained in it are: ha ksa ma la va ra yam, which can be divided into ten to constitute what is known as the "ten syllables of power." They represent the energy which tran- scends the relative concepts of time and space. The monogram contains the symbolism of the five elements—earth, air, fire, water, space- transmuted by the principle of sunyata or empti- ness. It also represents the 84,000 buddha- dharmas or teachings of enlightenment.
