Our 1860 house was featured on the cover of the June 2004 issue of your

magazine, in a story about restoring our front porch. Since then I have contin-
ued to restore the façade as close to the original as possible, still using vintage
photos as a guide. I also updated the plain white trim with earth-tone colors,
having delved through my back issues of Victorian Homesto see Gothic Revival
paint schemes. When a matching house a few blocks away was being torn
down for a parking lot, I got the following items: iron fence, dropped finials, READERS:
bargeboard trim (exactly matching the original which had been removed in the YOU INSPIRE US!
1930s), and window and shutters for the second floor front façade (an exact
match to my existing windows).
