' 95 Cote St-Antoine Westmount, Quebec H3Y 2H8 514931 9481 www.selwyn.ca Published in Canada Printed in USA Headmaster's Message — ii-Mknuli ML, M iTTI « i-m ~gn i Now that was a quite a year! It was full of excitement, events, success, challenges, and opportunities. At times, it becomes difficultto remember it all, and thus the value ofouryearbook-VERITAS. Memories ofour years atschool are so important, so wonderful, and this is why I love the yearbook. You can just feel the excitement in the air the day it arrives. It is a time where staff and students share a moment of collective reflection on the yearthatwas. The stories are real, the characters alive, and the value ofthis publication can never be underestimated. Ofcoursethisyearbookwould notbepossiblewithoutvision, dedication, passion, andanabundanceofcommitment and hard work. Everyone involved has again risen way beyond the call of duty. We have marvelled at the abilities and leadership ofour student editor, Ben Bedard, who has been helped and supported by students Luca D'Angelo and Hou Ji Yao. Their work is so impressive, and we all owe them a great deal of gratitude. Congratulations Ben! You have left quite a departing legacy. Educators make huge differences, have tremendous influence, and once again, the desire, effort, and talents ofMr. Bill Bedard and Ms. Julie Heath have been so obvious. Yearafteryearthey applythe same high level ofpassion and dedication, and each yearwe all receivetheirwonderful gift. The reality isthis publication would not happen without them. Theyneveraskforpraise, theyareclearlynotinvolvedto receive publicacknowledgement, buttheycontinually provide an exampleto all astothetrue meaning ofVERITAS. Wecould notaskfor much more. On behalfoftheentire community, I would like to thank Bill and Julie for completing yet another herculean task. We are so appreciative of all you have given us. As you journey through the pages ofthis publication, I hope your own memories will come alive. It is a greattimeto reflect and an opportunity to be inspired. know will. I I Read on and enjoy! Hal Hannaford, Headmaster & Yearbook Photography Wow, I never thought I'd end up with pages in the yearbook all to myself! It's been a great run these past threeyearshelpingtocreatethe booksthatwill hold ourmemoriesforever. I'm gladthatdespitethegrueling ] Monday afternoons working on yearbook, that I stuck it out and ended up as this year's editor. I grew up hearing stories about how the yearbook editor is a core component of any school. My dad used to have ! at least five applicants every year for the position and only the best of the best would be chosen to lead | the yearbook team. Unfortunately those days are no longer. wish could write here about how was the I I I top choiceofaboutfifteen otherguys, butthatjustdoesn'thappen anymore. Interestin yearbookhasslowly been dwindling over the past couple of years. The picture above shows our entire student staff. Together with Ms. Heath and my dad, we put this entire book together; all 192 pages. The problem as I see it, is that no one understands the true value of yearbook anymore. The way things are headed, the class of 2017 might not even have a yearbook due to the rate of decline in studenl participation. havelearnedso much inthiscourseoverthe pastthreeyears; cannotbegintolisteverything. I I Ittruly saddens meto seethe numberofstudentsthat are missing outon thiswonderful opportunity. Some ofthe first money earned was as a graphic designer using skills that took almost directly from yearbook I I camp. want to congratulate next year's student editor Luca D'Angelo for the amazing book that he wil I put together. No one really understands what goes on behind the yearbook doors until they get there. He! has a major challenge ahead of him, currently being the only student involved in the yearbook course, bu I am confident hecan survive ifotherstudentsgetinvolved. I hope all ofyou enjoythis bookand I encourage anyone who does to ask how they can help the yearbook out in the future, for the future! Benjamin Bedard Yearbook Editor
