The major increases were for Sri Lanka (50,000 MT), unknown destinations ( 25,000 MT), Poland ( 23,000 MT), Venezuela (22,500 MT), and the USSR (20,700 MT) . Exports of 571,800 MT were one-third below the previous week and 22 percent under the 4-week average. The USSR (230,700 MT) , China (142,600 MT), and Egypt (103,600 MT) were the primary recipients. Corn: Sales of 180,900 MT—the slowest of the marketing year—fell 86 percent from the prior week and 79 percent from the 4-week average. The major buyers were Taiwan (71,500 MT), Japan (52,000 MT), Iran (33,000 MT), and Peru (22,400 MT) . Decreas»A of 38,200 MT were reported for unknown destinations. Exports of 702,400 MT were 8 percent above the week earlier and 5 percent over the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Taiwan (222,600 MT), Japan ( 209,300 MT), and the USSR (110,000 MT). Barley: Sales of 50,000 MT were all to Jordan. Exports of 65,500 MT were 19 percent below the week earlier, but 8 percent over the 4-week average. Saudi Arabia (50,400 MT) and Israel (15,100 MT) were the destinations. Sorghum: Sales of 99,000 MT were one-fifth above the week earlier, but fell 55 percent from the 4_week average. Mexico (58,600 MT) and Turkey (24,000 MT) were the principal purchasers. Exports of 103,400 MT were 35 percent below the previous week, but one-tenth above the 4-week average. The destinations were Mexico (74,600 MT) and Japan (28,800 MT) . Rice: Sales of 18,500 MT were two and two-fifths times the previous week, but 9 percent below the 4-week average. Mexico (9,000 MT—all rough) was the major buyer, followed by South Africa (3,100 MT), France ( 1,800 MT) , and Germany (1,800 MT). Exports of 33,400 MT increased one-half from the week earlier, but declined 35 percent from the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Turkey (13,100 MT), the Netherlands (7,500 MT), and Jamaica (4,000 MT) . Soybeans: Sales of 282,000 MT were off 37 percent from the previous week and 44 percent from the 4_week average. Major increases for the Netherlands (57,200 MT), Taiwan ( 56,600 MT) , Trinidad (54,000 MT), and Romania (48,500 MT) were partially offset by reductions of 54,600 MT for unknown destinations. Exports of 316,000 MT were one-half below the prior week and the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Japan (143,100 MT) , the Netherlands (66,900 MT) , and Taiwan (61,600 MT). Soybean Cake and Meal: Sales of 16,700 MT were 83 percent below the prior week and 89 percent below the 4-week average. The primary buyers were El Salvador (8,000 MT) and Canada (5,000 MT) . Exports of 113.700 MT were 23 percent below the week earlier and 9 percent below the 4-week average. The primary destinations were the USSR ( 82,800 MT) and Canada (14,800 MT) . Soybean Oil: Sales of 45,600 MT were primarily the result of sales for unknown destinations of 45,000 MT. Exports of 12,600 MT were all to Morocco. Cotton: Sales of 55,800 running bales (RB) exceeded the previous week by 3 percent, but were one-third less than the 4-week average. The major buyers were South Korea (28,400 RB) and Japan (16,800 RB). Exports of 102,000 RB were off 46 percent from the prior week and 37 percent from the 4_Week average. Asian destinations accounted for 84 percent of the week's shipments; West European, 14 percent; African, 1 percent; and Western Hemisphere, 1 percent. Hides and Skins: Sales of 276,900 pieces fell 56 percent from the the preceding week's level and 24 percent from the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide sales of 210,600 pieces were primarily for South Korea (107,600 pieces) and Japan (66,400 pieces). In addition, 10,900 pieces were reported as sold for delivery after January 1, 1992, the begining of the next marketing year. Whole cattle hide sales were 9,200 pieces, with Hong Kong (7,400 pieces) being the major buyer. Exports of 346,500 pieces were one half below the previous week and 21 percent under the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide shipments of 274,300 pieces were destined primarily for South Korea (162,900 pieces) and Japan (80,900 pieces ) . Sales of 56,200 wet blue hides (mainly grain split) were three and one-half times the prior week's level and 22 percent above the 4-week average. Japan (37,800 grain split and 1,500 unsplit) and Taiwan (19,800 unsplit) were the major buyers of wet blue hides. Reductions of 4,800 grain split and 3.700 unsplit were reported for South Korea. Exports of 12,500 hides were 62 percent lower than the week earlier and 57 percent less than the 4-week average. Japan (7,000 grain split and 1,500 unsplit) was the primary destination. Net sales reductions of 101,300 pounds of splits resulted as increases for South Korea (570,000 pounds) were more than offset by decreases for Taiwan (664,400 pounds) and Thailand (4,800 pounds). Exports of 544,200 pounds were 67 percent below the previous week and 60 percent under the 4-week average. South Korea (153,100 pounds), Mexico (134,000 pounds), and Thailand (115,200 pounds) were the principal recipients.
