Wheat: Net sales of 635,800 metric tons (MT) were 53 percent below the previous week and 26 percent under the |4-week average. The major increases were Japan (131,300 MT), Liberia (101,000 MT—which reflect corrections in kales reported for South Africa during the week ending 7/29/93), Lebanon (100,000 MT), and unknown destinations H96,000 MT). Exports of 449,200 MT were 17 percent lower than the week earlier and the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Egypt (94,400 MT), Japan (59,900 MT), Uzbekistan (37,300 MT), and Nigeria (36,500 MT). Corn: Net sales of 58,700 MT fell 86 percent from the week earlier and 74 percent from the 4-week average. Increases for Canada (45,100 MT), Egypt (35,500 MT), Spain (29,000 MT), and Venezuela (26,700 MT) were partly offset by decreases reported for Japan (139,400 MT) and unknown destinations (14,000 MT). Sales of 433,900 MT for delivery in the 1993/94 marketing year included increases for Japan (244,100 MT) and Taiwan (186,700 MT) with decreases for unknown destinations (55,700 MT). Exports of 461,400 MT were 5 percent lower than the previous week and 14 percent less than the 4-week average. Japan (166,300 MT), Taiwan (106,200 MT), Bulgaria (82,200 MT), and Algeria (52,100 MT) were the principal destinations. Barley: Sales of 41,800 MT—all to Israel—were 61 percent below the prior week, but improved 54 percent from the 4-week average. Exports of 800 MT were reported to Israel. Sorghum: Sales of 104,700 MT were two and two-thirds times the 4-week average. The major buyers were Japan (67,700 MT) and Mexico (25,000 MT). Exports of 116,200 MT were double the week earlier and nearly two and one-fifth times the 4-week average. The destinations were Mexico (78,100 MT) and Japan (38,100 MT). Rice: Sales for the 1993/94 marketing year (MY), which began August 1, were 101,500 MT. The major buyers were Canada (20,200 MT), Yemen (15,700 MT), South Africa (14,100 MT), Belgium (8,100 MT), Sweden (8,700 MT), and Saudi Arabia (8,000 MT). A total of 260,400 MT was outstanding on July 31 (the end of the 1992/93 MY) and was carried over to 1993/94. Exports for July 30-31 were 51,500 MT. The primary destinations were Senegal (22,000 MT), the Netherlands (9,200 MT), South Africa (6,300 MT), and Jamaica (5,000 MT). Accumulated exports for the year were 2,075,100 MT, up 16 percent from the 1,783,300 MT exported during the previous year. Exports for August 1-5 were 15,500 MT. The major destinations were South Africa (8,100 MT) and the Netherlands (4,700 MT). Rough (Paddy) Rice: A total of 279,500 MT of rough rice was exported during MY 1992/93. Long grain rough rice shipments of 263,900 MT were to Mexico (197,300 MT), Italy (19,400 MT), Costa Rica (18,000 MT), Spain (11,900 MT), Guatemala (9,000 MT), Peru (6,000 MT), and El Salvador (2,300 MT). Short and medium grain rough rice shipments of 15,600 MT were to Turkey (10,000 MT), Spain (5,300 MT), and Mexico (300 MT). Activity for 1993/94 includes carryover from the 1992/93 MY of 15,600 MT—all long grain for Mexico. Exports for August 1-5 totaled 600 MT to Mexico. Rough rice is reported weekly in the appropriate brown category and included in the weekly summary. oybeans: Net sales reductions of 36,300 MT resulted as increases for Taiwan (81,000 MT), the Netherlands 32,700 MT), and the Philippines (15,000 MT) were more than offset by decreases reported for Japan (97,100 MT), unknown destinations (55,900 MT), and Mexico (12,800 MT). Sales of 131,300 MT for delivery during the 1993/94 marketing year were for Taiwan (60,000 MT) and Japan (56,500 MT). Exports of 137,400 MT were down 56 percent from the prior week and the 4-week average. The primary destinations were Mexico (45,900 MT) and Japan (43,900 MT) . Soybean Cake and Meal: Sales of 65,300 MT were two and one-quarter times the previous week and two and one-fifth times the 4-week average. Increases were reported for unknown destinations (15,000 MT), Saudi Arabia (15,000 MT), Japan (9,300 MT), and the Dominican Republic (7,900 MT). Exports of 81,800 MT were seven and two-fifths times the previous week and two and one-quarter times the 4-week average. The primary recipients were the Philippines (24,000 MT) and Algeria (15,800 MT). Soybean Oil: Sales of 20,000 MT were primarily the result of purchases by Tunisia (12,000 MT) and Switzerland (8,000 MT). Exports of 6,300 MT were 63 percent above the 4-week average. Algeria (6,000 MT) and Canada (300 MT) were the recipients. Cotton: Sales for marketing year 1993/94 totaled 12,900 running bales (RB). Major increases for Japan (14,700 RB), Germany (8,800 RB), and South Korea (5,900 RB) were partially offset by decreases reported for unknown destinations (17,600 RB) and Canada (11,100 RB). Outstanding sales of 683,600 RB on July 31 (the end of MY 1992/93) were carried forward to 1993/94. Final shipments of 65,500 RB for 1992/93 brought accumulated exports for the year to 4,634,100 RB—24 percent below the prior year's exports of 6,102,000 RB. Exports for August 1-5 of 45,300 RB were primarily to South Korea (12,200 RB), Mexico (7,700 RB), Canada (5,300 RB), and Japan (5,200 RB). Total shipments of American Pima for 1992/93 of 316,000 RB were up 12 percent from the prior year's total of 283,500 RB. Current outstanding sales for 1993/94 of 106,800 RB include carry-over sales of 57,900 RB and net sales of 9,500 RB. Hides and Skins: Sales of 267,400 pieces were 18 percent lower than the preceding week's level and one-quarter less than the 4-week average. Whole cattle hides sales of 253,400 pieces were primarily for Japan (147,200 pieces) and Taiwan (48,000 pieces). Exports of 300,400 pieces were 23 percent below the week earlier and 26 percent under the 4-week average. Whole cattle hide shipments of 285,900 pieces were destined primarily for Japan (97,500 pieces) and South Korea (97,200 pieces). Net sales of 500 wet blue hides—all to Japan—included new sales of 700 unsplit and reductions of 200 grain split hides. Exports of 12,700 hides were down 56 percent from the previous week and 65 percent from the 4-week Average. The primary destinations were Japan (2,200 grain split and 1,400 unsplit), Taiwan (3,000 unsplit), and jkustralia (3,000 grain split). Sales of splits totaling 339,100 pounds were 46 percent below the prior week and 63 percent under the 4-week average. The major buyers were Hong Kong (97,300 pounds), Japan (90,000 pounds), and Thailand (70,800 pounds). Exports of 415,000 pounds were 5 percent above the week earlier, but 53 percent below the 4-week average. Hong Kong (205,300 pounds) and South Korea (103,800 pounds) were the primary destinations.
