U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Fund: 2013-2014 Dear Friends, Thank you for your interest in applying for a grant from the U.S. Ambassador’s Special Self-Help Program. The application period for grants is open from January to April 2014. Awards will be made in July. You will find a detailed description regarding our grants below. Please read these carefully in order to see if your activity falls within our guidelines. If they do, please complete the application form beginning on page 7 of this document. Please answer all the questions on the form. Use the back of the pages if you need more space. In addition to your completed application form, you will need to attach the following: 1. Three complete estimates. You must have estimates to cover all funds that you request. 2. A business plan which includes detailed information about your operations, market, expenses and objectives. You can obtain a business plan template from the U.S. Embassy reception desk. With this you may attach any other documents which you feel will help your application. 3. A detailed history of your organization and project stating when it started, what has been accomplished, what you have done for the community, and how the community supports you. 4. A copy of your constitution. 5. A list of committee members with their names and addresses. 6. A map showing how to get to your project from a major road. 7. A copy of project bank account details including the name of the bank, account name, account number and type of account (savings or checking). 8. Proof that the project has its own land (in the name of the project) or permission to occupy the land, e.g. signed lease agreement or land deed. Grants usually range in size from M10,000 to M60,000. In rare circumstances, more may be awarded to a particularly worthy project. The community must contribute at least 10% of the costs in cash, materials and/or labor. Please remember, many communities will be applying for funds. Those that turn in thoroughly completed forms are the ones most likely to be considered! Again, thank you for your interest and GOOD LUCK!! U.S. Embassy Maseru P.O.
