Mr.R.Mohanram is the Managing Trustee of the trust while his wife, Dr.Sudha Mohanram, who is an academician with over 20 year of experience, is the Joint Managing Trustee of the trust and also the Principal of Sri Eshwar College of Engineering. Apart from establishing Sri Eshwar College of Engineering, the trust also has taken up lot of philanthropic activities including granting scholarship to the tune of Rs.2.0 crores every year to the deserving students. Sri Eshwar College of Engineering was established in the year 2008 by Eshwar Trust. The institution is approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (AICTE), New Delhi and affiliated to Anna University, Chennai. SECE currently offers 5 UG programmes and 5 PG programmes. The Institution has grown significantly within short span of time because of the commitment and focus of the management and staff members. The College is located in a charming ambience, creating an ideal learning environment to stimulate intellectual and holistic growth among the students. It is located near Kinathukadavu, at a distance of 25 km from Coimbatore Railway station. The management of the institution has constantly focused on improving its processes and has institutionalized implementation of the key aspects and criteria of the NAAC model. Consolidating all growth paths and the quality measures, this Self Study Report (SSR) has been prepared by the Steering committee with the support of all staff members, faculty members and the management. SECE takes the opportunity to submit the SSR towards accreditation by NAAC. The SECE family invites the NAAC Peer Team to visit our Institution for the first cycle of assessment. 6 EXECUTIVE SUMMARY The institution has established processes compliant to ISO 9001:2008 and the requirements of NAAC. This Executive Summary section provides a bird’s eye view of the various processes implemented by the institution to meet the 7 criteria of the NAAC requirements. 1. Curricular Aspects • SECE has established well thought out Vision and Mission which are the guiding principles of the institution. • The institution has put in place well documented procedures for planning, execution, evaluation and enrichment of the curriculum. • To effectively deliver the curriculum, the institution has well qualified and experienced team of faculty members who are provided with ICT Enabled Class Rooms, Exclusive Training Rooms with ultra modern facilities, Wi Fi Enabled Campus, Industrial Training, e-Resources, Tablets for Teaching Learning and Clicker Based Assessment. • The institution has set up “Interactive Academics Resource Centre (IARC)” which is headed by a senior professor. This Centre aims at introducing innovating and novel teaching methods. • In order to get to know the current expectations of the industry and enrich the curriculum accordingly, SECE has formed Academic Advisory Councils for all the engineering branches. • Senior leaders from Tech Mahindra, Korakk Technologies, Payoda, Skavasystems, Cloud Kinetics, UST Global, Trimble Navigation, Pricol Castings, Cameron, Brakes India, Quest Global, Lucas TVS, National Instruments and Bahwan CyberTek and a few of our alumni have been inducted into these councils to provide input for curriculum enrichment and also to address students on their expectations. • Based on the curriculum enrichment suggested by the Academic Advisory Council Members, the institution identifies various Value Added Courses, guest lectures and workshops and offers the same to further equip the students and to enhance their employability prospects. • For every subject, the faculty members identify content beyond syllabus and teach the same. • Apart from the input from industry through Academic Advisory Council Meetings, the institution also constantly collects feedback from other stakeholdes viz., Students, Faculty, Alumni and Recruiters, consolidates the same and provides it to the affiliating university for curriculum upgrade from their side and internally uses the same for curriculum enrichment. 7 2. Teaching-Learning and Evaluation • In the current year, the institution has achieved a stupendous enrolment ratio of 98.7% for UG courses. Year on year, there is a marked increase observed in the +2 cut off marks with which students join SECE. The below table explains the increase in cut off of the students from the year of inception (2008-09) to the current year (2015-16).
