Introduction Stepantsminda, formerly known as Kazbegi, is the regional center of Kazbegi municipality. This part of Georgia is famous throughout the world for its dramatic mountainous range and the third highest mountain in Georgia, Mount Kazbeg. Mount Kaz- beg has been well loved by mountain climbers since it was first climbed in 1868 by 23 years old British 5 alpinist Douglas Freshfield from the London Alpine Club and has been an important climbers destina- tion ever since. The region is named after the famous local noble pastoral poet Alexander Kazbegi who lived for seven years as a shepherd, writing his fa- mous poems celebrating the beauty and richness of the mountains. To inspire your stay Rooms Hotel Kazbegi provides numerous tours in and around Kazbegi region. We are all about creating meaningful memories that last.
