To dm{fˆH Ó{VdoXZ AnnualReport accomplish this goal, the operational strategy of the institute is to focus on basic 2013-14 research on abiotic stresses faced by the country, development of human resources, creating robust databases and amelioration approaches using frontier technologies withtheparticipationofwidenetworkofnationalandinternationalcentres.Sincethe institute is in formative stage, efforts were continued for the development of infrastructure facilities in terms of construction works, farm development and procurement of equipments The construction of administrative block is about to be completedsoonandsomeoftheresidentialquartershavebeenoccupied.Theinstitute has initiated multidimensional research to minimise the adverse impacts of abiotic stressesinagriculture.Infact,theforemostachievementoftheyearhasbeeninitiation of a large number of field experiments on wheat, soybean and mungbean in south- sideandestablishmentofhorticulturalplantationsinthenorth-sidefarmondrought and edaphic stress management aspects. Micro-irrigation system has been planned forallfieldplotsandauto-irrigationsystemwillbeputupafterapprovalofEFC.High endequipmentssuchasEddycovariancesystem,Bowenrationsystemandautomatic weatherstationhavebeenputtouseformonitoringgasandenergyfluxes.Different districtsofMaharashtrawereafflictedwithunprecedentedhailstormsandscientists of the institute were actively involved for developing post-hail recoupment techniques.
