S. O. 58 (E).--ln exercise of the powers conferred by sub-section (3) of section 1 of the Employment of Manual
Scavengers and Construction of Dry Latrines (Prohibition) Act, 1993 (46 of 1993), the Central Government hereby appoints
the 26th day of January, 1997 as the date on which the said Act shall come into force in all the Union territories and in the
States of Andhra Pradesh, Goa, Karnataka, Maharashtra, Tripura and West Bengal.
