HEIhasfundedmorethan280researchprojectsinNorthAmerica,Europe,Asia,andLatin America,theresultsofwhichhaveinformeddecisionsregardingcarbonmonoxide,airtoxics, nitrogenoxides,dieselexhaust,ozone,particulatematter,andotherpollutants.Theseresults haveappearedinthepeer-reviewedliteratureandinmorethan200comprehensivereports publishedbyHEI. HEI’sindependentBoardofDirectorsconsistsofleadersinscienceandpolicywhoare committedtofosteringthepublic–privatepartnershipthatiscentraltotheorganization.The HealthResearchCommitteesolicitsinputfromHEIsponsorsandotherstakeholdersandworks withscientificstafftodevelopaFive-YearStrategicPlan,selectresearchprojectsforfunding,and overseetheirconduct.TheHealthReviewCommittee,whichhasnoroleinselectingor overseeingstudies,workswithstafftoevaluateandinterprettheresultsoffundedstudiesand relatedresearch.
