HEED THIS NOTICE: Criminal penalties may apply for noncompliance. e Document Name: CFR Section(s): Standards Body: Official Incorporator: THE EXECUTIVE DIRECTOR OFFICE OF THE FEDERAL REGISTER WASHINGTON, D.C. 127-96 Factory-Built Fireplaces - with Revisions through November 1999 249 250 NOVEMBER9,1999- UL127 tr1 Underwriters Laboratories Inc. (UL) 333 Pfingsten Road Northbrook, IL 60062-2096 UL Standard for Safety for Factory-Built Fireplaces, UL 127 Seventh Edition, Dated May 16, 1996 Revisions: This Standard contains revisions through and including November 9, 1999. ULis in the process ofconverting its Standards for Safetytothe Standard Generalized Markup Language (SGML), and implementing an SGML compliant document management and publishing system. SGML an international standard(ISO8879-1986) -isa descriptive markup languagethatdescribesa document's structure and purpose, rather than its physical appearance on a page. Significant benefits that will result from UL'suseof SGMLandthese newsystems includeincreased productivity, reduced turnaround times, and data and information consistency, reusability, shareability, and portability. However, the fonts, pagination, and general formatting of UL's new electronic publishing system differ from that of UL's previous publishing system. Consequently, when revision pages are issued for a Standard with the new publishing system, these differences may.result in the printing of pages on which no requirements have been.changed - these additional pages result from relocation oftext due to repagination and refonnatting of the Standard with the new publishing system. Text that has been changed in any manner is marked with a vertical line in the margin. Changes in requirements are marked with a vertical line in the margin and are followed by an effective date note indicating the date of publication orthe date on which the changed requirement becomes effective. The new and revised requirements are substantially in accordance with UL's Bulletin(s) on this subject dated August 2, 1999. The bulletin(s) is now obsolete and may be discarded. The revisions dated November9, 1999also reorderthe contents ofthe Performance and Manufacturing and Production Tests Sections in the Blower Assembly requirements. The revisions dated January 13, 1999 include a reprinted title page (page1) for this Standard. The revisions dated January 26, 1998 were issued to correct typographical errors and to change references to UL 547, Standard for Thermal Protectors for Motors, to UL2111, Standard for Overheating Protection for Motors. UL 547 has been withdrawn and replaced by UL 2111. As indicated on the title page (page 1), this UL Standard for Safety is an American National Standard. Attention is directed tothe note on the title page of this Standard outlining the procedures to be followed to retain the approved text of this ANSIIUL Standard. The master for this Standard at UL's Northbrook Office is the official document insofar as it relates to a ULservice and the compliance of aproductwith respecttothe requirements forthat product and service, or ifthere are questions regarding the accuracy of this Standard.
