Description:I found this book to be effective in helping me prepare for both LPIC-1 tests, however, it has a few very noticeable flaws that may cause someone less experienced with Linux to get less ROI. I had used various Linux distros at home and work for ~10 years before finally deciding to go ahead and get certified. First of all, the software is simply awful. It is Windows only and has many, many wrong answers. I found a number of questions where the testing software marked me wrong while reporting the correct answer as NOTHING, just a blank space. The book itself is really pretty decent but has some very obvious mistakes that speak to a sub-par editing process. There are a number of instances of pure copy/paste with words changed between paragraphs. More alarming than this though is the number on instances where words were NOT changed. Mr. Jang is a talented author and I do feel this book was rushed to market to coincide with the updated(04/01/09) LPIC objectives. Even at three stars I would still recommend buying this book as a study guide, just don't make it your only one.
