Introduction
KRIECHBAUMER(1894)described30speciesandonevarietyofIchneumonidae,afterhehad
receivedthematerialfromthePresbiteroD.F. MORAGUESfromPalmadeMallorca.Appar-
ently hesentbackmost ofthe material to thecoUector, and retained only some duplicates,
becauseonlysometypesofthesespecieshavebeenfoundintheKRIECHBAUMERcollection
intheZoologischeStaatssammlung,München,andwererevisedbyAUBERT(l')74).Mostofthe
types were thought to be lost, until we traced the MORAGUES collection in the Seminario
DiocesanodeMallorcainPalmadeMallorca.Mr.J.PUIDRÖSfromthatInstitutionkindlygave
permissiontoremovetheIchneumonidaefromthecollectionforfurthershidy.Aftertheendof
ourstudies,thematerial,includingthetypes,willbegiventotheMuseoNacionaldeCiencias
Naturales,Madrid,forfuturepreservation.
ThematerialfromtheMORAGUEScollectionisinaratherbadcondition.Theboxeswere
partly broken, the specimens are faded by light, and some of them are badly damaged by
dermestids.Somespeciesaremissing. Becauseofthepoorconditionofmanyspecimens,we
gluedmostofthemontabs.Thematerialwaspoorlylabelled.Namelabeiswrittenby MOR-
AGUESwerefixedtothebottomoftheboxes,andweretransferredbyustooneofthetypes
ortotheonlytype,respectively.Theonlyoriginalpinlabeisarelabeiswithnumbers,apparently
referringtoadeterminationlist,andblueroundtabswithoutinscription,whichmayhavethe
meaning "revisedby KRIECHBAUMER". They are attached to typesofnew species and to
specimensofspeciesnotdescribedbyKRIECHBAUMER,butonlytoonespecimenofaseries.
Theotherspecimenswere found unlabelled. Asa consequence, somespecimensapparently
havebeenmisplaced inthecollection. Although KRIECHBAUMER (1894) published precise
localitydates,therearenolocalitylabeispresentinthematerialrevisedbyKRIECHBAUMER,

and theinformationaboutlocalitiesanddatesofcoUectionprobablywasgivenonaseparate
list.Thereissomemorematerialinthecollection,withlocalitylabeisanddatesofcollection
latertlian1894,butwithoutindicationthatitmightcontainadditionaltypes.Thematerialinthe
KRIECHBAUMERcollectioninMünchenisinamuchbettercondition,butthespecimensdo
notbearanyoriginallabeiseither,andallextantlabeishavebeenwrittenbyKRIECHBAUMER
orbysubsequenttaxonomists.Becausethenumberofspecimensbelongingtoatypeseriesis
notknowninmostcases,weusuallydesignatelectotypesalsointhosecasesinwhichonlyone
specimenispresentinthecollectionsnow.
