Afteracarefulexamination,ithasbecomeclearthatthesespeciesarenewtosci- encebecauseofdisagreementwiththeknownmembersoftherespectivegroupsinthe secondarysexualcharactersoftheabdominalstemitesandconfigurationofthemale genitalorgan.Theywillbedescribedinthepresentpaper.Theho1otypesofthetwo newspeciestobedescribedaredepositedin thecollectionof theNational Science Museum(Nat.Hist),Tokyo. Elytrasubtrapezoida1andsubdepressedabove,somewhat dilatedposteria slightly longerthanbroad(length/width=1.02),distinctlyshorterthan(elytra/pronotum=0.86) thoughasbroadaspronotum;lateralsidesvery feeblyarcuate,posteriormarginemar- ginateandforminganobtusere-entrantangleatthemiddle;posterioranglesbroadly rounded;surfacedensely, roughlyandsetiferouslypuncturedallover.Hindwingsde- generatedtominutelobes.Legsrelativelyslenderandmoderatelylong;profemurre- markablythickened,thoughstronglyconstrictednearthebaseandexcavatedinapical haltontheinner face,sothattheanteriorpartoftheexcavation formsasubtriangular blunttooth;protibiadilatedapica hollowedinbasal half on theinner faceandpro- videdwithfiveorsotransverserowsofcomb-likeyellowishsetaewithinthehollow; meso-andmetatibiaenormal;1st to4thprotarsa1segmentsstronglywidened;meso- andmetatarsi thin. ThisnewspeciesbelongstothegroupofL nomura1becauseofthe longelytra, and canbereadily distinguished from the other members of the same groupbythesmallerbodyandthedifferentconfigurationofmalegenitalorgan. Bionomics. The type specimenwas dugout fromamuddy screedeposited under asteep cliff at the northern side of Mt. Hsiao-hsiieh Shan at an altitude of 2,630m. Etymology The new specificnameisderived fromTaiwan, inwhich liesthe typelocality“Mt.Hsiao-hsiiehShan”. LathrobiuM(s.str)shaolaie1'seY.WATANABE,sp nov. (Figs3,7-10) Bodylength:7.9mm(fromfrontmarginofheadtoanalend);4.1mm(fromfront marginofheadtoelytralapices). Thisnewspeciescanbedistinguishedataglancefromtheprecedingspeciesby thetransverseheadandelytra,whichagreewiththecharacteristicsofthegroupofL. pollens. Differing from themembersof thespecies-group inconfigurationofsec- ondarysexualcharactersofabdominalsternitesandmalegenitalorgan. Bodyelongate,subpara11e1-sidedandsomewhatdepressedabove.Colourreddish brown andshining,with two apical abdominal segmentsand legsdark yellowish brown. Male. Headsubtrapezoida1andmoderatelyconvexmedially,alittletransverse (wjdth/1ength=1.13),widestatbasal fourthandmoredistinctlynarrowedanteriadthan posteriad;lateralsidesgentlyarcuate, frontalarea attenedandglabrousbetweenan- tennal tubercles,providedwithalargesetiferouspunctureinsideeachantennaltuber- cle;surfacesparinglycoveredwithdistinctsetiferouspunctureswhichbecomemoreo「 lesscloserandfinerthaninlatero-posteriorareas,andbearingasmallsmoothve「teXa1 area;eyessmallandnearlyflat,theirlongitudinaldiameteraboutone-thirdaston9as postocularpart. Pronotumnearlyoblong,apparentlylongerthanbroad(length/width=1.13),alit- tle longer (pronotum/head=1.30) and slightly broader (pronotum/head=1.02) than head,widestbehindanterioranglesandslightlynarrowedposteriad; lateral sidesal- moststraightindorsalviewexceptneartheareasofanteriorandposteriorangles,an- teriormargingentlyrounded,posteriormarginsubtruncate,anterioranglesobtuseand notvisible fromabove,posterioronesrounded;surfacemorecoarselyandmorenu- merouslypuncturedthanonheadexcept foranarrowsmoothmedianlinethroughthe lengthofpronotum.Scutellumsmallandsubtriangular, providedwitha fewminute setiferouspuncturesonthesurface.Elytranearlytrapezoidal,slightlydilatedposteria alittletransverse(width/length=1.10)anddistinctlyshorter(elytra/pronotum=0.80) thanandalmostasbroadaspronotum;lateralsidesslightlyarcuate,posteriormargin emarginateatthemiddle;posterioranglesobliquelytruncated;surfacedenselycovered with much coarser punctures than thoseonpronotum. Hind wings degenerated to minutelobes.Legsrelativelyshort;profemurandprotibiasimilarinstructuretothose oftheprecedingspecies. Abdomenelongate,gentlywidenedtowards7thsegment,andthenabruptlynar- rowedfromthe8thtoanalend;3rdto7thtergiteseachtransverselydepressedalong thebaseasin theprecedingspeciesandmoderatelycloselycoveredwithsuperficial puncturesand finebrownishpubescence,8thtergitemoresparinglyandmorefinely puncturedthanontheprecedingtergites;8thsternitesubtriangularlyandasymmetri- callyexcisedatapexanddeeplylongitudinallydepressedinfrontoftheexcisionalong themedianline,surfaceofthedepressionprovideddenselywithshortrigidblackish setae;7thsternitealsoarcuatelyandasymmetricallyemarginateatthemiddleofposte- riormarginandlong-ellipticallydepressedatthemiddlebeforetheemargination,sur- faceofthedepressionsmooth,6thsterniteprovidedwithashallowhorseshoe-shaped depressionatthemiddlejustbeforeposteriormargin,surfaceofthedepressionsome- whatcoarselyasperate;5thsternitealsowithasimilarsmallasperateareatothatof 6thsterniteatthemiddleinfrontofposteriormargin. Genitalorgannearlyspindle-shaped.Medianlobeconsiderablylongerthanfused paramere,withventralscleritewidestnearthemiddle,muchstronglynarrowedto- wardsthepointedapexthantothebase,andsomewhatcurvedtotherightsideinapi- calhalf.Fusedparamereasymmetrical,abruptlyconstrictednearapicalthirdandap- parentlynarrowedtowardsthepointedapexwhichissomewhatcurvedtotheleftas seenfromdorsalside,distinctlyemarginateinapical fourthinprofile. Thenameofthepresentnewspeciesisderivedfrom“Mt.Shao-lai Shan”,thetypelocality. 要 約 渡辺泰明:台湾産の後翅の退化したナガハネカクシ属の2新種 (甲虫目, ハネカクシ 科). - 台湾からはこれまで, 後翅の退化したナガハネカクシの仲間が知られていなかった. 私は最近, 上野俊一博士が1989年6月に台湾の台中県大雪山系の二つの山で採集された, この グループに含まれる2種を検討する機会を得た. これらはいずれも地下浅層から掘り出された が, 雄の腹部第二次性徴および交尾器の形状がこれまで知られた種のものとは一見して異なっ ており, 新種と判断されたので, 下記のとおり命名, 記載した. 1. Lathrobium(s.str)taiwanenseY.WATANABE,sp nov. 本種は, 大雪山系小雪山の標高2,630mほどの地点にある急斜面の岸壁の下に堆積した, 土 の多い岩錐の下端部から掘り出されたもので,頭部および翅鞘がいずれも幅よりも長いことで, 日本に分布しているオオコバネナガハネカクシ種群に含められる. しかし体が小型で, 雄の交 NewApterousLath,obiu,nfromt1、eTa-hsiiehShans 311 尾器の側葉は末端域が二裂し, しかもそれぞれの先端部分が斧状を呈する特異な形状で, この グループの他の極から容易に区別できる. 2. Lathrobium(s.str)shaolaienseY.WATANABE,sp nov. 本種は, 大雪山系稍来山の標高2,030mほどの落葉広葉樹林内の, 凹地か小構に溜まった落 ち葉の下の石混じりの土の中から掘り出されたもので, 頭部および翅鞘のそれぞれが長さより も幅が広いことで, 日本に分布しているコバネナガハネカクシ種群に含められる. しかし, 雄 の腹部に表われる第二次性徴の形状および交尾器の中葉が側葉よりいちじるしく長く, 後半は 急に狭まり, その部分が湾曲していることなどで, このグループの既知種から容易に区別でき る.
