ThisnewspeciesisquitesimilartoTkameyamatandTnoto1,andsome bodyproportionsshowintermediaterangesbetweenthoseofthelattertwospecies,but isclearlydistinguishedbytheconfigurationofthecopulatorypiece.Thetypepopula- tionofTsouma1wasfoundinagullynear theheadoftheItoi-gawa,oneofthetribu- tariesoftheMaruyama-gawaRiver flowingintotheJapanSea. TheItoi-keikokuVal- ley islocatedbetweentheknownlocalitiesofT kameyamaiandTnoto1, i.e.,23km southeastofAkaganeyama, thetypelocalityofthe former,and64 km northwest of ToyonoMine,thetypelocalityofthelatter.ThetypespecimensofTsoumaiweredug out fromthecolluviadepositedinadriedriverbedandastreamsideat thedepthof about 10-50cm.Waya,thesecondknownlocalityofT soumai, isabout6kmwest of thetypelocality.ThespecimensfromWayaareidenticalwiththetypeseries,except formoreorlessthickerapicalpartofthecopulatorypiece. Discussion Inthispaper, IdescribedtwonewspeciesbelongingtothegroupofT on1from theTajimaareainthenorthernpartofHyogoPrefecture.Boththespeciesarevery similar toTnoto1ofthekosuge1complex,andhavethefollowingpeculiarcharacteris- tics incommonwiththelatter:relativelylargebody,sexualdimorphisminbodysize, largemalegenitaliawiththeuniquemodificationoftheaedeaga1tip,andhighlydevel- opedcopulatorypieceintheinnersac.Thesefactssuggestthat thethreespeciesare closely relatedwithoneanother.However,theTajimaareaandtheknownlocalitiesof Tnotoiaregeographicallyremote,andbesides,twootherspeciesofthekosugeicom- plex,T yoshiakii(UENo,1978,p 298,figs 5-8)andTsilicicola(UENo,1981,p 79, figs.1-4),occurbetweenthetwoareas.AlthoughTkameyama1andTsouma1should beincludedinthekosugeicomplextogetherwithTnotoiaccordingtothepresentsys- temofclassification(UENo,1985b),thereisaconsiderablywidegapinmorphological featuresbetweenthethreespeciesandtheothermembersofthekosuge1complex in- f cluding yes(cid:0)aスl a szfzcfcofa. 0nlyacandidateof intermediary is 「 tangoms TwoNewAnophthalmic 「,・echia,nafromtheTajimaArea 55 (UENo,1985b,pp.166,183,figs.15-16)fromthenortherntipoftheTangoPeninsula, whichshowsasimilarmodificationoftheaedeaga1tiptothoseofTnoto1,Tkameya- maiandTsouma1.InspiteoftheadjacencyoftheTangoPeninsulatotheTajimaarea, however,Ttangentshasnoneofthepeculiaritiesofthelargebody,sexualdimorphism inbodysize,largemalegenitaliaandhighlydevelopedcopulatorypiece.Aspointed outbyUENo,Ttangentsshowsthemostlikelyancestraltypeofthekosugeicomplex, becauseofpossessingthelessdevelopedcopulatorypieceandthesymmetrical lateral wallsoftheaedeagus.Itishighlypossiblethatthetwolineages,namely,thenotoi-1ike speciesandtheothermembersofkosugeicomplex,werederived fromacommon tan- gents-likeancestralspecies. I havealreadyexaminedseveralundescribedspeciesof thenotoi-1ikespeciesnot only from theTajimaareaand itsvicinity butalso from southeasternHyogoPrefecture.Sincethenumberoftheavailablespecimenisnotsuf- ficient fordescriptionyet,Iwilldealwiththeminnear future.Anyhow,thenotoi-1ike specieswill show awidedistributionbeyondexpectationandmay form a distinct species-complexinthegroupofToni.Toconfirmthishypothesis, further investiga- tionoftheremainingblank areasinthenorthern KinkiDistrict includingTajimais necessary.
