ReviewWatching magician Damien Namtar perform, private investigator Shannon Mallory wonders if he could have killed her best friend Tawny. He certainly seems like a suspect since Tawny was his audience volunteer the night of her death. Not only that, but the way Tawny was killed was bizarre--only two small puncture wounds in her neck and her body drained of blood. Dying from a mysterious blood disorder, Shannon knows she doesn't have much time to avenge Tawny's death. Shannon confronts Damien with her questions and he feels obligated to protect her from Tawny's killer, suspecting she may be next. As the oldest vampire in existence, Damien leads a reclusive life and avoids contact with anyone, mortal or immortal. But he finds himself becoming more and more attracted to Shannon.
