ETSI 10 ETSITS101329-3V1.1.1(2001-01) 4.1.2 IP Transport Plane Withinthisplane,generalnon-applicationspecificparameterseffectingQoSmustbecontrolledandaccountedto achievetheQoSrequirementsrequestedbytheapplication. 4.1.3 Management Plane WithinthisplaneQoSmanagemententitiesapplicabletobothapplicationandtransportplaneswillresideand informationflowsapplicabletoQoSmanagementwillterminate. 4.2 Service and Transport Domains ATIPHON-compliantdeploymentwillinthegeneralcasebemadeupofanumberofseparateServiceDomains,each representingthedomainofcontrolofanEnd-UserorIPTSP.ThesedomainswillgenerallyberestrictedtoIP TelephonyApplicationplanefunctionality.e.g.,gatekeepers,softswitches,callagents,etc. Similarly,aTIPHON-compliantsystemwill,ingeneral,alsobemadeupofanumberofseparateTransportDomains. TransportDomainsconsistsolelyoftransportrelatedfunctionality;thisincludesIProutersandswitches,firewallsetc. EachTransportDomainmayhaveitsownQoSpoliciesand/ordifferfromotherdomainsintermsofadministrative control(e.g.NetworkOperator),QoSmechanisms(RSVP/IntServ,DiffServ,MPLS),access,metering,addressing schemes(global,local)andtransportprotocol(IPv4,IPv6),etc. Sincethesepoliciesarelocal,functionalentitiesareneededtointerfacetootherdomains.Theseentitiesarecalled InterConnectFunctions. ThegeneralTIPHONdeploymentisillustratedinfigure3. 4.2.1 End-to-End QoS Control End-to-endQoScontrolacrossmultipledomainsmaybeachievedinoneoftwoways: a) ByhavinganIPTelephonyApplicationServiceDomaincontroleachTransportDomain.TheServiceDomain wouldrequestthetransportresourceswithQoSfromeachoftheTransportDomainsandestablishthe interconnectinacontrolledfashion. b) Bymeansofend-to-endsignallingwithinandbetweenTransportDomainswhichsharecommonpolicies.
