Abstract ThetrueaffinityofCopt・Ist1・1pa,・titusvf()・,1nosanusGILLETisclarified,
andanewcombination,Copt'1spu'1ctatussubsp.fo1-mosantlsGILLETisproposed.
InthecourseofreviewingtheTaiwanesedungbeetles,IhaverecognizedthatCo-
pris'trlpartitusv.formosanusGILLET,1921(Figs.1-2),doesnotbelongtoCoprlstri-
partltusWATERHOUSE, 1875(Fig 3),originally described fromJapan (Tsu-Sima). I
firstconsideredittobeanewspecies,butfinallyconcludedthatitshouldberegarded
asasubspeciesofCoprlspunctatusGILLET,1910(p 4)(Fig 4).

thebordersoftheocularlobes,thepronotumwithfrontanglesobliquelybutnotsono_
ticeablytruncate,andwiththelateralprocessesmorestronglydevelopedascompared
withthelectotypeofC.puncta,tus,andtheelytra1intervalslessnoticeablypunctate.
Therefore, theTaiwanesepopulationcouldberegardedasasubspeciesofC〔)pris
punctatus.

益本仁雄: Copristripa・,titusvfot1・mosamlsGILLETの真の類縁種. - 台湾から記載されたco-
pristripa・,titusv.formosanusGILLETは, 対馬から記載されたヒメダイコクコガネCop・,tst1・lpa・,titus
の変種として記載されたが, 検討の結果Copr,spunctat,,sの亜種にするべきであることが判明し
た.
