MRYC NEWS & NOTES A Village… by Glenn Higgins, Rear Commodore A few years back there was a political slogan, "It takes a village to raise a child.” Personally I think it takes parents to raise a child but I digress. Over this summer I have spent quite a bit of time at the Club. I have to say, I am impressed. Miles River Yacht Club PO Box 158 At the end of July MRYC hosted over two hundred children at our 51st annual St Michaels, MD 21663 Invitational Swim Meet. Despite the oppressive heat the event came off 410-745-9511 flawlessly. Kudos to the parents and MRYC staff. Also in July I had the pleasure of watching the Governor’s Cup Log Canoe race. I must admit it was FLAG OFFICERS my first time. How impressive to watch these magnificent craft and crews. Commodore: Tim Hanlon More recently my son and I were in for lunch. MRYC is very fortunate to have members willing to volunteer Judy Gaston and I am grateful. I am sure you are grateful also. For the most part these Kathleen Hopkins volunteers serve selflessly and without thought of reward. It’s like a village. Bob Luff Barbara Rose Much like a village not all members excel at all things.
