ANDSS Yearbook 2016 1 PRINCIPAL’S FOREWORD It is hard to believe that a year has passed since I took over as the Principal of the school. There were many activities and events conducted to enrich the learning of Andersonians and school life was made so fun and exciting that one barely noticed the passing of time. Which event or activity in 2016 left the deepest impression on your mind? How has it enhanced your learning experience in school? For me, the highlight last year was definitely the inaugural Education and Career Guidance (ECG) week held during the Sabbatical session. To enhance our graduating students’ understanding of their personalities and interests, students underwent DISC profiling and participated in a forum discussion with industry professionals where they listened to the professionals’ experiences and asked questions to deepen their knowledge of the world of work. An exhibition was also held to allow students to learn more about the post-secondary education landscape and the various pathways that they can consider. Another memorable event was the Teachers’ Day Celebration. Our students paid tribute to their teachers through songs, dances and games. The performances were so impressive that the audience sat unflinchingly throughout, mesmerised by what they had watched. A few of our teachers also came together to produce a highly entertaining video production, which brought much laughter to the audience. The event was truly a good showcase of our students’ and teachers’ gifts and talents. 2 ANDSS Yearbook 2016 These wonderful experiences would not have been made possible without the careful planning and hard work of our teachers. Under the guidance of our teachers, our students continued to perform very well in both academic and non-academic areas. On the academic front, our students achieved excellent results in the National GCE Examinations. Our L1B5 score for GCE ‘O’ level examinations and ELMAB3 score for GCE ‘N’ level examinations have improved. In the co-curricular area, our CCAs have consistently garnered awards at zonal and national competitions. I would like to take this opportunity to thank all teachers for their commitment and dedication. In addition, I would also like to thank our School Advisory Committee members, parents and friends of Anderson for their constant support. Our Anderson Family would not be complete without your presence and contributions. Finally, I thank the Publicity Team for coming up with the Yearbook. There is no better way in reminiscing about the past than to read the Yearbook. Enjoy the Yearbook! ANDA has continued to contribute to the school and collaborate with the team of dedicated teachers and Principal, Mrs Tan May Teng, who came on board last year. In line with the alumni annual tradition, ANDA continued to support the school’s activities, such as the Speech & Prize-Giving Day, Graduation Ball and Teacher’s Day High Tea this year. The team also met the school’s Liaison Committee and the School Leaders on a termly basis to provide updates to and discuss activities / events with the school.
