Zz – Where’s the Line to See Jesus
THE NIGHT OF THE FIRST CHRISTMAS

Twas the night of the first Christmas when all thru

the Inn
there were shepherds and merchants but no room for

Him.

The city was full, with people from everywhere,

they just didn’t know the Messiah was there.

While others were nestling, all snug in their beds,

there’s not even a pillow for the poor baby’s head.

So many had come; their taxes to pay,

so few of them knew who slept on the hay.

When up in the heavens there arose such a song,
that the shepherds all knew though their wait had

been long,

the words of the prophets had all come to pass,

the blessed Messiah had now come at last.

The Magi were living in lands far from here,

when what to their wondering eyes should appear?
But a star that’s so wondrous that it filled up the

night,
so they loaded their camels and they followed it’s

light.

It brought them to Jesus, of whom prophets foretold,
they offered Him gifts of Myrrh, frankincense and

gold.

Then swiftly as leaves before the wild hurricane fly,

the soldiers followed orders to see that He died.

Their efforts all failed He grew tall and strong,
then went straight to the work to which He

belonged.

And now, ever since that first Christmas morn,

the one when Jesus our Savior was born.

This world has never been quite the same,

you can still hear the message in the angels refrain,

“Peace on the earth, goodwill to all men”

Jesus has come to forgive us of sin.

God gave the first present and He gave it to man,

on that very first Christmas He gave us His lamb.
