Leslie McCall contends that such assumptions are based on incompletesurveydataandeconomicconditionsofthepastratherthan present.Infact,Americanshavedesiredlessinequalityfordecades, and McCall’sbookexplainswhy.Americansbecomemostconcernedabout inequality in times of inequitable growth, when they view the rich as prosperingwhileopportunitiesforgoodjobs,fairpay,andhigh-quality education are restricted for everyone else.
