Thirty-sevennamedspeciesofthegenusArchldispushaveso farbeenrecorded fromJapan.Ailofthemareknowntobephoreticoncarabidbeetlesinabroadsense. Twomorenewspeciesofthegenusaredescribedinthispaperonthebasesofphoreto- morphicfemalesfoundonthecervicalmembranebetweenheadandprothorax,or in- tersegmentalmembranebetweenpro-andmesothoraxof18Japanesecarabidspecies mainlybelongingtothetribesPterostichiniandHarpalini. Theterminologyofthebodystructuresandthesetalnotationmostlyfollowthose ofLINDQUIST(1986).Allmeasurementsaregiveninmicrometers(オm). TheRCC3 index(ratiooflength(ordistance)ofanystructuretothemutualdistanceofanterior coxal condylesIIIX100) (KuRosA,1989) isused for theconvenienceofdescription. Themeasurementsof leglengthsandmutual distanceofanteriorcoxal condylesIII usedhereinarethesameasthoseexplainedinthelastpaperofmine(KuRosA,2003). Thisspeciesseemstobeuncommon inthe KantoDistrict inHonshu, Japan. Oneoftheparatypespecimenswas foundincoexistencewithfive femalesofA kur・osaiMAHUNKAetRACKandonefemaleofanundescribedArchidispusspecieson anindividualof1:)microcephalus,buttheattachingsiteofthelattersixspecimenswas thecervicalmembrane,unlikeA tonegawanus. A.chujo1はA.c・tassi1adixKURosA,1989とA ku,-osa1MAHUNKAetRACK,1990(=A.sim出s KuRosA,1989)に多くの特徴で一致し, この2種および同じ論文で記載したA.,-1parius,A.p,・o- ximus,A.ohtaniiの3種に近緑のものと考えられるが, 基節毛4bがかなり細く基部で太まること がまったくないことで容易に判別できる.Ato11egawanusはAdip1oiKuRosA,1991にやや似るが, 体の大きさ, 後体部背面の毛c,の位置,基節毛4bの長さと形状, 脚の太さ, 第4脚の毛の長さ と形状, そのほか多くの点で異なり, 系統的にはあまり近緑でないと考えられる. 本論文は昨年6月に逝去された中條道夫先生から永年にわたり温かい励ましを頂いたものと して, 先生の死を心から悼み捧げるものである.
