Their Eating Guide travels led them to create the long-running TV series, TheFood Lovers’Guide to Australia,seen on SBS-TV and The Lifestyle Channel. Series five will air in late 2005. Joanna is a journalist and (borderline-obsessive) food explorer who has lived and worked around the globe.In a former life she was a current affairs reporter and translator.As an ‘ethnic eating expert’and freelance contributor to a number of publications (including Australian Good Taste,the Sydney Morning Herald and Australian Gourmet Traveller), Joanna spends lots of time tasting, talking,reviewing and judging food.She also likes to cook.In 2004 she was awarded the Food Media Club of Australia’s prize for the ‘Best Overall Con- tribution to the Communication of Food’. Maeve lives and breathes food.She appears on at least two television chan- nels—as food presenter on Channel Seven’s Better Homes and Gardens and as co-presenter,with Joanna,of The Food Lovers’Guide to Australiaon SBS.Maeve is ‘the food explorer’on ABC Radio’s Relishprogram with James Valentine.Her travel company Gourmet Safaris takes people on food adventures at least twicea week in Sydney and to beautiful places like Orange,Mudgee,Tasmania, Kangaroo Island and further afield to Vietnam,Italy and Greece.And she’s just launched an indulgent offshoot called Gorgeous Safaris. We’ve made a few changes (and improvements, we hope)—not least adding a map showing some of our key eating precincts,extra (and clearer) indexes for easier reference and an eclectically personal list of favourites.
