It's light spread out to illumine the earth and to bring it life. The color of the mountains and earth reflected are oft, and oothing. There i a calm, peaceful feeling as one ponder them. Thi light ha come out of darkne . The dark surrounding color help one experience the en e that Chri t brought u out of dark· ne into Hi light. The artwork to the right wa drawn by , igel Pierce and i representa· tive of this year ' theme, "A Stronger Flame i Burning." The Spark That Lit the Flame \\'hat really started it all \\a the opening of our long awaited • 'ew Building. \\'hat wa once the football team's practice field had become one of the mo t beautiful buildings in downtO\\fi :\tacon. In it center was the chapel where friend~ and facult) celebrated rna on a weltering Augu ·t day. De pite the heat, tudent and their familie joined the faculty for the dedication ceremonie , that afternoon. A flame was lit that day, not only in the chapel but in the . tudent bodv a \\ell. There i a new spirit at :\H de ale thi war, nd like th candle that \\ill burn eternally, we can on!) hope that the e new·found bond~ of unity and school spirit are never extin· gui hed. Tricia Meyers, Allyson Joyner and Jennifer Rar field munch on donut in the gym on Student Appreciation Day. 4 • Shining I• n our Eyes. IS We knew there was omething different, but we couldn't put our finger on it. As the '90-'91 Salesian Staff met for the fir t few times much thought wa put into this year' theme. Finally, ~igel Pierce put everyone' feelings into words: "A Stronger Flame i Burning ... " Throughout the year we have noticed more people at porting events, larger number in club , and more class unity. As the year progres ed and we focused on graduation and beyond, it wa nice to look around and see Mount de Sales at what may have been its best. This year ha brought many experiences. enior wrote term papers, Juniors enjoyed the cheerful Claxton Experience, Sopho mores got their licenses, Freshman became "high schoolers", and Middle Schoolers enjoyed having Saint Jo eph' Hall all to them selves.
