OUP CORRECTED PROOF – FINAL, 01/05/2016, SPi Preface We envisage this volume as the first in a new series in global history which is char- acterized by historical depth, a wide geographical range, and the concrete applica- tion of different approaches to global history, engaging with multiple methodologies, coming from an interdisciplinary perspective, and teasing out connections and their limitations by asking challenging questions. Some of these ideas are explored in this volume.
