A brief study of the art and archi¬ tecture of this temple has been attempted by scholars, which formed part of their comprehensive work on other tempi:s of Rayalaseema. S# they could not devote more attention on the temple. Though small and ruined this Chola temple deserves a detailed study and I am happy that Mr. Sridhai has selcc sd this for his study. Eleven inscriptions, all belonging to the Chola period, are found engraved on different parts of the parasaresvara ter.pk Mr. Sridhar discussed the historical background of the region ia brief basing on these and other important inscriptions found elsewhere in the Chittoor District. His attempt lo give a Compre¬ hensive picture of the monument and its contribution to the cultural history deserves appreciation. His description and analysis of the architectural and iconographic importance of the temple are commendable. I wish, Mr. Sridhar continues his academic pursuits and take-up some more temples of this region for his study. Dr. D. KTRAN KRANTH #H©UDARY Reader. Indian Culture Department, 8. V.
