Turner Index 668 Notes on Contributors Afe Adogame holds a PhD in History of Religions from Bayreuth University, Germany. He now teaches Religious Studies/World Christianity at the University of Edinburgh, UK. His special fi elds of teaching/research include: Religion and the African Diaspora, African Religions, Sociology of Religion, and Method and Theory in the Study of Religion. Dr Adogame has ethnographical expertise in African Christian communities in continental Europe (especially in Germany and the UK) and in the USA. He is the author of Celestial Church of Christ: The Politics of Cultural identity in a West African Prophetic - charismatic Movement (1999); (co - edited) European Traditions in the Study of Religion in Africa (2004); Religion in the Context of African Migration (2005); C hristianity in Africa and the African Diaspora: The Appropriation of a Scattered Heritage (2008); and Unpacking the New: Critical Perspectives on Cultural Syncretization in African and Beyond (2008). He is on the Editorial Board of several scientifi c journals including the Journal of Religion in Africa; A frican Diaspora: A Journal of Transnational Africa in a Global World ; I nternational Studies in Religion and Society ; and is Associate Editor of the Studies in World Christianity . Richard T. Antoun is Professor Emeritus of Anthropology at the State University of New York in Binghamton. A Fulbright Scholar and past president of the Middle East Studies Association, he has taught at Indiana University; Manchester Univer- sity, England; and as visiting professor at the American University if Beirut, Cairo University, and the University of Chicago. On the basis of extensive fi eldwork in Jordan and Iran, he has written four books: Arab Village: A Social Structural Study of a Transjordanian Peasant Community (1972); L ow - Key Politics: Local- level Leadership and Change in the Middle East (1979); M uslim Preacher in the Modern World: A Jordanian Case Study in Comparative Perspective (1989); and Document- ing Transnational Migration: Jordanian Men Working and Studying in Europe, Asia and North America (2005). A fi fth book is comparative and cross - cultural: Under- standing Fundamentalism: Christian, Islamic and Jewish Movements (2001).
