This history is about the misinformation masquerading as fact in relation to the American landings on the moon by the NASA Astronauts of the Apollo Space Program, which commenced in July 1969 with Apollo 11 and ceased in December 1972 with Apollo 17.  Specifically this much needed work deals with refuting scientifically and factually once and for all many of the long standing falsehoods, and outright lies, perpetuated by those who believe in these conspiracy based rumours about those involved with the US space program. Unfortunately much of this current silliness can be traced back to several well meaning Science Fiction Authors and Movie Makers out to tell a good story, which have since been regurgitated as proven fact of some mythical all encompassing grand conspiracy. One of the most notorious of these sources of todays conspiracy theory that the moon landings were 'all done on film sets' can actually be traced back to the fictitious 1977 movie 'Capricorn One', written and directed by Peter Hyams.   The Author clinically explains in painstaking detail, including through the use of photographic and film evidence, each of the best-known claims and theories, analyses the evidence behind those beliefs, and than comprehensively and  thoroughly refutes them with well thought out scientific reasoning. Additionally the quoted film documents can be examined and viewed by the reader who can access the material online as part of the release of this work (Publishers Note: at the time of publication). Its to the Author's credit that they also address not only just the more persistent older claims, but that they also deal with many of the newer ones.  This book is Volume XXXIII of the ongoing 'Science And Fiction' Book Series created and produced by the publisher of this book as a way to encourage people to become involved in all fields of Scientific endeavour through the use of Fiction and to encourage people to research topics that they may find intriguing when reading Science Fiction Authors. This book includes 103 Photographic illustrations, and also gives the reader access to additional online material including movie footage of the Apollo Astronauts on the moon. The Author Thomas Eversberg is an Astrophysicist by training who works for the German Space Agency and the European Space Agency (ESA). He specialises in optical instrumentation for telescopes, about which he has authored a scientific textbook or two over the years his been active in his field. His current research addresses active 'massive stars', and the Author also runs a private astronomical observatory for the training of upcoming researchers and prospective Astrophysicists in his homeland of Germany. When not working with the ESA or encouraging others to join him in staring up at the sky, the Author restores vintage motorcycles and reads or watches 'copious amounts of Science Fiction'.
