They can bring people together creating new relationshipsa nd strengtheningo ld ones. Board games are a way to temporarily remove people from the highly digitalized world we live in, creating a great space for people to experience each other's company. They make you set goals and utilize strategies while permitting a space for creativity. Board games can be representativeo f the North Shore experience. A school year at North Shore has many different steps along the way, like the game Candy Land. Occasionally., you may face adversity and go backwards, though most of the time you are moving forward onto the next step. Sometimesy ou have to take a chance, like in the game Monopoly, where other times you have to continue down your path, just like the Game of Life. ' Revenge 3 2018 Dedication: Doroth1y Biel In keeping with our Board Game theme, Dorothy Biel has been a key player at North Shore for 16 years. Ms. Biel was born and raised in Brodla, Poland, with her sister and two brothers.S he earned a degree in economics, work, pay, and social service in Krakow,P oland, and worked in office administration and human resourcesf or a bakery company, as well as managed a school apprenticeship program. In 1986, Ms. Biel moved to the United States and stayed with her uncle before starting a job at Millard Cleaning Company, which worked for North Shore. In 2002, the year after her introduction to NSCDS, the school noticed her hard work, dedication, and rnany contributions to our community and she was hired to join the North Shore staff. In 2006, Ms. Biel became a citizen of the United States, and was gifted a pair of American jeans from her good friend at North Shore, Mrs. Cullen, to celebrate. She has a strong presence in our community that has positively affected many students and faculty members through the years. Ms. Biel interacts with the Lower Schoolers every morning as she greets them and helps them get from the car line to the school She does so rnuch work in order to keep the school running smoothly and is never acknowledged to the degree that she deserves.W e are so thankful for all that she does, and we are honoredt o dedicate this yearbook to Dorothy Biel. 5
