Of course, the route will vary from time to time and the sex will vary from the ecstatic and memorable to the routine and predictable. For, in any couple’s life together, there are sexual milestones and each new phase brings forth rewards of its own. The time from first meeting to actual intercourse varies enormously from couple to couple. But whatever their situation, the first time they make love is a unique experience and one that they will remember all of their lives. The first few months of a relationship between lovers are often described as the “honeymoon” period. This is the period when a couple cannot have too much of one another. Often every moment spent apart is regarded as wasted. And it is during this period that a couple lay the foundations of the kind of sex life that they will have together. Each partner will have different expectations for when they make love, for each human being’s sexuality is unique and individual. What they will be united in is the hope that it will be a perfect experience, perhaps with each of them coming together at the same moment. For many lovers, however “good” they are technically, this is unlikely to be the case. The chances are that both will be over¬ anxious to impress the other and to please them, all of which is a potential recipe for sexual disaster. And because each of them is not yet familiar with the other’s sexuality, the chances are that they will misjudge the other’s feelings.
