It is through their caring, dedica- tion, and patience that we have the ability and privilege to work with these wonderful animals. I also wish to thank my wife Deborah, for her spirit, love, support, and editorial assistance with this book. My parents, Virginia and William, my siblings, and my professional col- leagues helped me become a better person and professional. Lastly, my pet dogs serve as a constant reminder of the gentle nature of the species and inspire me to do my best in caring for their canine rela- tives every day.
