MARGARET LYNCH-BRENNAN began her career as a classroom teacher. Over time she taught at the middle school, high school, and graduate levels. For many years she served as an administra- tor with the New York State Education Department working on issues related to civil rights, high school reform, and professional development for teachers. Since completing her Ph.D. in Ameri- can history at the State University of New York at Albany, she has published numerous essays and presented at conferences in the United States, Germany, Australia, and Ireland.
