No, 730, G.R.C. Worshipful Mast Address 2017 R.W. Bro. William F. Utton What an honour and a privi¬ lege it has been for me to serve as your Worshipful Master of the Heritage Lodge mas# No. 730 this past year of 2016- 17. Many exciting things have happened over the course of this past year, which would not have been possible with¬ out the assistance of the past Masters, officers, and mem¬ bers of Heritage Lodge. 1 wish to express my deepest gratitude and appreciation to all. While there were numer¬ ous events that the Heritage Lodge took part in this year, here are some particular highlights: Firstly, in November, to start the year off was the installation of Heri¬ tage Lodge No. 730 by the M.W. Bro. Donald A. Campbell. It cannot be overstated what a terrific job that was done by all the members of the Installing Board. Next, we purchased a new Heritage Banner to be used at our regular meetings. Following this, was one of the highlights of my year, our black-tie din¬ ner in January R.W. Bro. David Neave and his committee put in a lot of hard work to ensure that the evening was a great s uccess. The eve- J| 201.7 iS KK> f.'A<*11 f ,Of.M ;E NO. :K5 ning included a guest speaker, who gave an insightful presentation on the Battle of Vi my Ridge and the significance of the Canadian Expe¬ ditionary Force to the success oi that battle. The Dunlop Award was presented by MW7. Bro. C. Edwin Drew on behalf of the Dunlop Award Committee to II.W. Bro. Frank F. Wil¬ son. This was a well deserved honour for all that R.W. Bro. Frank F. Wilson has accomplished both masonically and personally. 1 salute you for your continued dedication. I would also like to thank the Markham Union Lodge for hosting our March 18th, 2017 meeting where we had the pleasure of listening to Bro. David Jamieson take us through the illustrious history of the Markham Union Lodge No. 87 G.R.C. Congratulations on making it to such a milestone anniversary. On May 2nd at 11:00 am, CFB Borden, Canadian Heritage Lodge was invited to participate in the presentation of the Vimy Ridge Me¬ morial to commemorate the 100th anniversary of that battle. We be¬ came involved in this worthy cause once R. W. Bro. Pratt contacted V. W. Bro. Arnold McCausland. I am delighted to share that Heritage Lodge donated nearly 50% of the funds required to complete the project which is a testament to the character of each and everyone of you who donated you efforts. In July three members of Heritage Lodge travelled on the Queen Mary II, where the V.W. Bro. Malcol m Parish was married. Heritage lodge acquired dispensation from the Grand Master to run a meeting using our charter aboard the ship. There were approximately twenty- one Masons, from various districts, who were legally able to attend this meeting, including the ship’s Commodore. Also, a plaque was given to commemorate this event, and it is my understanding that it is now on the wall, floating around the ocean. For more information about this event, R.W Bro. David Neave will be presenting a paper about it. Finally, my brethren, let me say thank you for the experiences over the past year. The dedication and commitment exhibited have truly made this year one of the highlights of my experiences. I have been afforded the privilege of being a Worshipful Master twelve times over the years. While each experience enriched my life, the uniqueness of Heritage lodge has left an indelible impression. Sincerely and Fraternally, William (Bill) Utton, Worshipful Master R.W. Bro. William F. Bro. Jacob Pos to the Grand Lodge Above, we have lost one of the founding members of Heritage Lodge and indeed one of the first proponents of its existence. Heritage Lodge was established to nurture the preservation of our history and our future by the presentation of papers in a lecture setting. The requirements of any speeches presented in Heritage Lodge are as follows: * A digital or hard copy of the presentation is to be sent to the Secretary of Heritage Lodge and to the Editor of the Proceedings prior to its presentation to the brethren at large. * Any graphics used should be included in a separate file, if possible, to maintain their sharpness given that many programs “dumb" them down. * Brethren contacting the proposed speaker should make them well aware, in advance, of our requirements. For the year 2017 out of four presentations only two were submit¬ ted. The Secretary and the Editor spent two months attempting to receive a copy of the missing presentations. One presentation was promptly received and the other NOT at all. R.W. Bro. W.
