Shaw McLean would have died from his wounds if it was not for Lorraine Grant. When he appeared in front of her clan’s castle with his clothes full of blood, Lorraine took him to the recovering room without a second thought and sat by his side until he opened his eyes again. Lorraine would have been a healer if she was not a noblewoman, and she cares deeply for every patient, but this one feels special. The mysterious man with the scar on his face does not talk much, and yet, he has a way of carrying himself that separates him from every other person she has ever met. As soon as he can talk, Shaw explains to her that he is a nobleman who got attacked by bandits. For a man who had a near-death experience, he seems emotionally well, and Lorraine admires his courage and she hopes that her future husband will be as brave as him.
However, her father has other plans for her. Lorraine is about to marry an older man fulfilling her father's wishes, even if she desires to dedicate her life to helping people. But unfortunately, frightening incidents occur in the castle, scaring Lorraine as much as everyone else. And it does not take long for the clan to realize that the one causing the trouble is inside the castle walls. Lorraine's merit of caring for people often makes her too trusting, and she would be shocked if she learned that Shaw is not who he says he is. The claim that he is a victim of bandits could not have been further from the truth, as he has been placed inside the castle strategically! Shaw's plan has been going perfectly except for one small detail; he should not have not fallen in love with the lass. Now, if he wants to change his course of action, he will have to risk his life for a woman who would have him executed if she knew who he really is. To make things worse, the bandits who have their eyes set on the treasures hidden in the castle will stop at nothing to get them. And this newfound romance is the perfect opportunity for them to cause more harm and get what they want faster rather than an obstacle.
