One of the most useful steps to losing weight is to keep track of what you eat. For voracious readers, keeping track has
the opposite effect! Jotting down the books you read will likely Increase your reading, especially if you use online tools

your books on Facebook and Twitter. As your shelf fills up, Good reads will recommend other titles based on your fa
vorites. Browse interesting lists like Best Nonfiction of the Year and Best uttle-Known Authors or find readers who like
the same authors you do and check out the other authors they rate highly.
On Shelfari, users add tags to describe story lines, characters, and tone. You can see all the books tagged as page
turners, strong women, creepy or World War II just by clicking on the tags. With thousands of reviews, ratings, tags,
read-alike lists, and recommendations at your fingertips, you'll find dozens of books you want to read. How will you

The Lake County Public Library Foundation is once again
hosting the annual Read-a-Thon from Monday, January 11th
through Friday, February 19th. This 6 week event is open to
all children from preschoolers through 8th grade. While most
schools in Lake County Public Library district participate,
home schooled children and Individual children whose school
does not participate are welcomed and encouraged to join in
on their own through the local branch library.
Prizes are presented to evety child that participates, includ
o·
ing recognition ribbons, 1 to 20• trophies, and gift cards, all
depending on the volume of books read and funds generated.
The Sponsor/Bookllst Record envelopes and the Read-a

ing school librarians as well as your local branch library.
