This book is dedicated to all the intercessors, prophets, apostles and spiritual leaders who have led us through the last season of the Church and paved the way for God's glory to come. May His glory bridge the past to the future and synergize the generations who together will pioneer the next move of God. May we enter this new season of Church history with expectation, joy and strength to overcome. Hope deferred from past defeats will be unleashed as God's presence comes upon His people to fulfill the best He has destined for our lives—individually, corporately and territorially. The prophet Samuel was born into such a time: "And word from the Lord was rare in those days, visions were infrequent" (1 Sam. 3:1). A shortage of revelation, understanding and prophetic words from the Lord is indeed a curse. Daniel, on the other hand, spoke of a time when prophetic insight would increase: But you, O Daniel, shut up the words and seal the book until the time of the end. Then many shall run to and fro and search anxiously through the Book, and knowledge of God's purposes as revealed by His prophets shall be increased and become great (Dan. 12:4, AMP). Without a doubt, we are blessed to live in a day as seen by Daniel. The increase of prophecy has indeed become great, reaching a point probably best described as multiplication— 10 Foreword another meaning of the Hebrew word rabah, translated "increased" in the above verse. When Daniel was allowed to look ahead to a time such as this, he could easily have seen Chuck Pierce, a person who walks in as keen a gift of prophetic revelation as I have ever witnessed. He is a spiritual son of Issachar, one who understands the times and, therefore, has knowledge of what we must do (see 1 Chron. 12:32). Combine this rare gift with the writing skill and understanding of Rebecca Wagner Sytsema—one who obviously inherited the literary genes of her father, C. Peter Wagner—and you have what you hold in your hand: an incredibly important book for the future of the Church. Perhaps this is why God has given Chuck a national voice so rapidly. We need him! The Future War of the Church is not an imaginative, Frank Peretti-type depiction of the spiritual realm, with frothing demons and sword-wielding angels locked in lethal combat. Don't get me wrong. I enjoyed This Present Darkness, and it may not be that far from reality in the spiritual realm; but this book isn't about that. The conflict Chuck speaks of is not imaginary, nor is it an ethereal attempt to sensationalize spiritual warfare or the prophetic dimension of the Spirit. This is clear scholarly teaching, filled with and substantiated by an abundance of Scripture, brought to a prophetic point of application for a people born for such a time as this. For those who would be truly strategic and progressive in the coming days, The Future War of the Church is not optional.
