skin - new - 4_Design 02.qxd 10/07/2013 08:23 Page i First published in 2004 and forecasting the present credit crunch and dates of key financial importance, this updated edition of The Financial Universe is once again presented to those interested in the extraordinary correlation between the cycles of the planets and events here on Earth. The Financial Universe deconstructs the future in clear masterful strokes. An absolute must read text not only for professionals in financial services and related industries but also for anyone who relies on the future for business and personal planning. Written by one of the world's foremost financial astrologers, Christeen Skinner highlights periods to maximise investment returns and minimise portfolio losses through exposure to geopolitical events and circumstances, and financial market hotspots. This important new and revised text maps out potential responses by international stock markets to world events that are predicted between now and 2020. It is not necessary to understand astrological terminology in order to follow the deconstruction of the complex relationships of planetary alignments, sun spot patterns, and other cosmic influences that impact on personal finan- cial well-being. Christeen Skinnerhas a thriving practice in London offering consultations to business people from the City of London and across the world. She is a former Chair of the Astrological Association of Great Britain, was a Council Member of the Faculty of Astrological Studies and is a Trustee of the Urania Trust. She has appeared on CNN, the BBC, Sky Broadcasting and numerous international television stations. skin - new - 4_Design 02.qxd 10/07/2013 08:23 Page ii The Financial Universe deconstructs the future in clear masterful strokes. An absolute must read text not only for professionals in financial services and related industries but also for anyone who relies on the future for business and personal planning. From reviews of the first edition “The book deals specifically with using planetary bodies to predict cycles in the marketplace, both positive and negative. Offering suggestions and warnings that potentially reverberate up through the year 2020, The Financial Universe even contemplates the astrological sign of America as a nation, and considers the impli- cations of this birth sign on the future of American finances as a whole as surely as what this means for one’s private investments. A fascinating compendium for astrology buffs.”The Midwest Book Review “The book focuses on business cycles over the next 15 years, relating the historical correlations of planetary position with the current cycles and providing a broad historical context for trends and developments in technology, politics & business. Dividing the period from 2004 up until 2020 Christine has set out specific corre- lations within several subperiods beginning with the influence of the 2004 Venus transit of the sun, which she explains opens the way for an explosion of creativity particularly in the 2008–2012 period. The historical context is given by a similar outpouring of significant artistic expression. Chapter titles such as “Collapse of the USA” and “Water Wars, 2010” convey the urgency of the need for business to be educated to the possibilities of using astrology in longer term forecasting and plan- ning.”Dennis Barker, Quantum Connections “The majority of the business community does not access this incredibly helpful [astrological] information, and are often taken unawares by events political and financial. Christeen Skinner’s book is groundbreaking, as it bridges this gulf and makes this information readable and understandable by all. Using the information that The Financial Universeprovides will support a smoother ride in the forthcoming decade and beyond. The book also deals with sun-spot activity, and gives very user- friendly interpretations.” Ms Pemos Theodore, Star Consulting, writing in ISAR International Astrologer skin - new - 4_Design 02.qxd 10/07/2013 08:23 Page iii skin - new - 4_Design 02.qxd 10/07/2013 08:23 Page iv Copyright © Christeen Skinner, 2004; 2009, 2014. The stars and cosmos have always fasci- nated mankind: analysis of planetary cycles, more commonly called astrology, has been used as a forecasting technique for thousands of years. More recently, a separate branch of this study has evolved – Financial Astrology. This branch of astrology combines planet, solar and recognised business cycles. Its use alerts investors to periods, places and circumstances where investment caution needs to be exercised, and to times when oppor- tunities to invest positively are more open and less prone to negative cosmic interference. Since beginning astrological studies twenty-five years ago, I have been increasingly aware of developing patterns in planetary and other activity within our solar system. Experience has demonstrated specific correlations between planetary activity and trends in social, economic and political behaviour. By analysing the ‘state of the solar system’ at specific times, and from specific locations, I have identified potential periods of stress for investors, companies and business sectors. In looking ahead over the coming sixteen years, I see patterns developing that give cause for alarm. Detailed astrological analysis of the unfolding patterns within our solar system indi- cates that the potential for global rifts and difficulties is far greater than that imagined by even the most negative media correspondents and politi- cians. Cosmic conditions and circumstances in the coming decade have major implications not only for the world economy, but also, perhaps, for the very survival of large sectors of the world’s population. My forecasting expertise to date has centred on the business and finan- cial world. In this, I have been moderately successful. On numerous occasions I have been able to hone in on specific dates as market turning points and have identified sectors of the markets likely to experience growth or pressures. Many of my clients have consulted with me for over a decade, and seek advice on a weekly, sometimes daily, basis. Other clients come for vi skin - new - 3:Design 02.qxd 04/03/2009 09:55 Page vii Preface to the First Edition advice only for specific events, such as the launch of a new product. These various individuals and companies find this input useful – especially when used alongside information gleaned from other consultants working in their business sector. Clients have encouraged me to commit my thoughts about the coming twenty years to paper. It is my sincere hope that the under- standing of solar and planetary cycles will be helpful to private investors, fund managers, financial advisors and chief executives. The Financial Universepresents a view of how global stock markets might react to world events between now and 2020. The discussion is broken down into specific time periods, in the context of the future relations between nations, the possibility of global conflict, and the underlying motifs or reasons that might cause severe disruption or discontinuity to the way in which the world works and trades. This work focuses on the potential for massive disruption as a result of specific cosmic circumstances; but, it is only that – potential. It is possible, indeed probable, that under the great stresses and strains signalled for the coming period, great good will be achieved – most likely post-2012. History provides evidence that mankind is more than capable of compas- sionate and innovative behaviour. Those in positions of political, economic and military leadership could take note of the coming cosmic squalls and modify their behaviour accordingly. They could turn out to be truly great leaders. They would, in effect, accept their relative position in the cosmos, and make every effort to work with natural forces rather than against them. Understanding of our cosmos, the solar system and the cycles of the planets does not, in isolation, hold the only keys to a better way of doing things. But in conjunction with human endeavour, the spiritual quest, and the march of civilization forward, they can be extraordinarily useful. If, as I suggest, there is correlation between the state of the solar system and mankind’s behaviour, then understanding this correlation – how we may react at a future time bearing in mind how mankind has reacted to similar conditions in the past – offers us a window on the future. At the very least we need to look through this window in order to prepare for difficulties if not to avoid them. Since the stock market dramas of 2000, there has been much specula- tion as to the collective financial future of the West. Savings and pension forecasts concern everybody. Commentators are able to offer guidance in the short-term by identifying the best financial packages on offer at a partic- ular time. They generally express the view that the investor should look to the long-term. They base their financial models on past performance whilst vii skin - new - 3:Design 02.qxd 04/03/2009 09:55 Page viii Preface to the First Edition offering the caveat that past performance cannot be guaranteed in the future. Even the best of fund managers recognise that there is an element of risk and that it is beholden on the investor to keep well-informed. The Financial Universeoffers a rare perspective – one which holds appeal for those willing to look to the skies and beyond. The chapters that follow open with an assessment of our relationship with the cosmos and the influence of solar activity on life on Earth. Using historical analysis, the chapter on ‘World Trade and Planet Cycles’ reviews previous periods of financial difficulty and looks ahead to periods when similar patterns will recur. ‘Forecasting’ considers recent financial dramas – most notably those of April 2000. The following chapter, ‘Transformation’, considers an outlook fraught with danger. The astrolog- ical links, though not absolutely rigid, seem to point to major events that involve massive changes in currency exchange and the potential for global warfare within the next decade. ‘The Collapse of the USA’, ‘The World Bank’, ‘The Credit Bubble and Currency Collapse’ and the ‘Water Wars’ chapters explain the potential for cataclysmic events with their inevitable impact on the financial world. The seeds of these issues are already apparent. Editorials in daily newspapers are continually making us aware of the potential difficulties that lie ahead. But solutions or meaningful steps that might counter the overwhelming forces that seem to be lining up to cause mayhem and mischief to the financial and trading system of the world, and indeed to the world as we know it today, are rarely offered. ‘Illusions and Imagination’ sets out to show that by being aware of cosmic energies and planet cycles, the human race will be better able to shape a future towards peace and enlightenment. Clashes cannot be avoided. The violence of the cosmos around us implies these to be natural. Our task is to apply knowledge of the cosmos – knowledge that has been used by mankind from the beginning of human activity on earth – to avoid need- less slaughter, extreme hardship and famine. ‘Cutting Edge’ assesses which industries are most likely to experience positive development in the coming years and which potentially offer investment growth. The concluding chapter, ‘Wall Street and London Markets, 2004–2020’, appraises various expected cosmic events and suggests their possible influence on the global marketplace. Specific dates are given to mark expected turning points and suggestions are made as to which sectors will benefit during specific periods. The coming years promise to be active and challenging. Private viii skin - new - 3:Design 02.qxd 04/03/2009 09:55 Page ix Preface to the First Edition investors, fund managers, captains of industry and others may find the view of the future offered in this book to be a useful adjunct to information gleaned from other futurologists. They may also find that the specific dates and time-lines mentioned equip them with invaluable foreknowledge. In reflecting on the correlation between historical events and various plane- tary and star alignments, the reader is encouraged to consider current issues from this ancient perspective and in so doing to consider their own place amongst the stars. It is my earnest hope that reading this book may mark the beginning of a thought-provoking journey. For those interested to know more, a list of further sources for study is offered in the Bibliography. Although there are several periods in the coming years that appear particularly prone to conflict and financial difficulty, there are other years when the quest for peace and happiness may be realised. This book does not focus just on doom and gloom, booms and busts. The message I wish to impart is one of potential and opportunity. ix
