Furthermore, the hormonal secretions of adipose tissue play a key regulatoryroleinallocatingenergybetweenthesecompetingfunctions. Assuch,itmaybeconsideredasimportantinourspecies’evolutionas othertraitssuchasbipedalism,largebrains,andlonglifespansanddevel- opmentalperiods.Indeed,adiposityisintegrallylinkedwiththeseother traits and with our capacity to colonise and inhabit diverse ecosystems.
