ProfessorEdwardO.ColemanJr.joined thefacultyofGreensboroCollegein 1967. He recei\edhisbachelor'sdegreeandmaster'sdegree fromtheUniversityofSouthCarolina,andis currentlyassociateprofessorofEnglish. Inhis timeatGreensboroCollege,ProfessorColeman hasreceivedvirtuallyeverymajorfacultyaward includingtheGreensboroCollegeAlumniAsso- ciationOutstandingTeacherAwardin 1981-1982, TheMooreProfessorshipin 1987-1988andthe Sears-RoebuckTeachingE.xcellenceAwardin 1990. Mostrecently,September 1997,Professor ColemanwasawardedtheExemplaryTeacher Award. Thecriteriaforthisawardare:excellence inteaching;civilityandconcernforstudentsand colleagues;commitmenttovalue-centerededuca- tion;andservicetostudents,theinstitution,the communityorchurch. Thesecriteriahavedefinitelybeenmetby ProfessorColeman. Heisrespectednotonlyby thefacultyandstaffatGreensboroCollege,but alsothestudents. Studentswhohavetheoppor- tunitytotakeoneofProfessorColeman'sEnglish coursesarelucky. Evenstudentswhodonottake anEnglishcoursewithProfessorColemanknow himandhisoutstandingreputation. Heisa concernedandcaringprofessorwhoisalways willingtohelpwhenneeded. Professor Coleman's"journeythroughtime"atGreensboro CollegewillforeverbeimportanttoGCstudents, faculty,andstaff. Duringtheretreatthese studentleadershadtoworktogetherinsituations wherecommunicationandorganizationwerekey insolvingproblems. Whentheretreatwasover, itwastimetotakewhattheyhadlearnedand spreaditthroughoutGreensboroCollege.
