Long is senior pastorofNew Birth Missionary Baptist Church in Lithonia, Georgia, and has served in that capacity since 1987. His sermons are widelytelevised on the Trinity Broadcasting Networl<,ABC, BET, aswell as international outlets. Long earned a Bachelor's Degree in BusinessAdministration at NCCU and a master's of Divinity DegreefromAtlanta's Interdenominational Theological Center. The Full Gospel Baptist Church Fellowship ordained Long as bishop on January 12, 1994. Long serves a memberofthe NCCU Board ofTrustees, is vice chairofthe Morehouse School ofReligion Board ofDirectors, and is memberofthe Board ofVisitors for Emory University. His commitmentto education has been recognized with honorary doctorates from NCCU, Morehouse School of Religion, and Beulah Heights Bible College ofAtlanta, where he taughtseveral courses. During his tenure as pastorofNew Birth Missionary Baptist Church, membership has grown from 300 in 1987 to more than 25,000 today. Beginning with a 500-seat chapel in 1987, under Long's leadership, the church has grown to include a new sanctuary, complex, and Family Life Centerwith a combined seating capacityof 18,700. Long is a published authoroffive books concerning our relationshipsto each otherand to God, and he is an enterpreneurowning several businesses. He isthe recipientofnumerous awards, most honoring hisworkto empowertheAfrican American community. Justthis year. Long received the Gospel HeritageAchievementAward for his supportoftheAfricanAmerican community. Bishop Long and hiswife, Vanessa, are the proud parents offourchildren: Eric, Edward, Jared, and Taylor.
